Why do so many young people believe that America is unique in having racism? I'm only 25, but I pay attention to world issues and I've traveled abroad. Racism is EVERYWHERE, in every country. Some countries still have civil wars and horrible hate crimes that stem from racism.

I keep seeing people say they're not "proud" to be from this country. Well, go live in a civil war driven country, where women and children are being slaughtered because of their race and tell me how proud you are then. The U.S. is far from perfect, but the fact that so many acknowledge racism and want to change it, says we're doing something right. All races have the potential to succeed here if they'll work for it and we have laws to protect them from discrimination. Ignorance and hate are everywhere, rather than say your ashamed of our country, do something to make it better.

I was not implying that the United States is perfect or that racism is ok. I am simply pointing out that 1.) Racism IS everywhere, despite what some people seem to believe. 2.) It will never end, no matter how "advanced" a society becomes. Technology and economy will not change human nature. In this country (and other first world countries) we have laws to protect. But you will not change individual people, it's a fact of life.

Don't let people ignorance and prejudice upset you. Blind nationism isn't a good thing, but there alot of folks right here that need to decide which side of the fence they are on. These are the same kind of scum that spat on my father when he returned from Vietnam.
Just like all other cowards they talk alot, but when it's time to put up or shut up they slink back into the shadows.
We fight to protect their rights, but they don't expect to have to respect ours.
Hold your head high, fly your flag and ignore them. They will try and try to get under your skin. Do not let them.

I am proud to be American, but I can see the flaws of this country. I guess the issue is that out country is the "role model" for the world, and if we are so great and educated, why is there still racism? These civil war countries you speak of, I am sure most of them are "third world". It's just sad that our great nation, as good as it is, can't step above racism.

it quite is problematical to show Wikileaks is anti-American. I evaluate they are purely opportunistic. in the event that they had get admission to to Russian or chinese language labeled fabric, I anticipate they might have found out it in exactly the equivalent approach. What Wikileaks has easily performed regardless it quite is divulge unlawfully have been given labeled fabric. that's no longer a controversy of fact or now no longer and that's no longer a freedom of speech challenge. that's no longer authorized for me to stand on the line corner shouting your perceive, manage, cellular telephone quantity, social protection quantity, financial enterprise card numbers, pin codes and passwords to each individual who walks with the aid of, even nonetheless i'm telling the fact.

Good point, but dont forget that the US is supposed to be the most advanced country in the world, and doing business with virtually every other country, so they should be more careful and have a bigger obligation in setting the right examples. Hating someone for being black for example, is more shocking in the US than in Algeria...and it should be, because you have different responsibilities. With great power comes great responsibility.

I asked something like this earlier and got a lot of crap for it. I thought it was a legitimate and valid question. I was serious. I wasn't picking a fight and one traitorous American who seems to be obsessed with me (Squirrel brains) put her usual stupidity and didn't answer the question. I wanted to know the answer as well. Thank you for asking again. I hope you get some intelligent answers but don't expect any from Squirrel Brain.

Because this country claims it's the land of freedom and equality, but it is never practiced.
Yes, racism exists everywhere, and it's a problem in Western Europe and Japan, but they don't claim to be the land of opportunity.

AMERICA IS THE BEST OF THE BEST. NO MATTER HOW BAD A SITUATION IS HERE, NO MATTER HOW FLAWED, IT STILL IS SUPERIOR TO SITUATIONS AROUND THE WORLD. WE ARE NOT PERFECT, BUT I DON'T SEE ANY OTHER COUNTRY SENDING OUT THE ASSISTANCE OURS DOES. IF ANYONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO DO ANY BETTER, THEY ARE KEEPING IT A SECRET.

SO IF THERE IS ANOTHER COUNTRY ON THE PLANET WHO IS AS INCREDIBLY COMPASSIONATE, GIVING, GENEROUS, UNDERSTANDING AND GOOD, I WISH THEY WOULD IDENTIFY THEMSELVES AND TAKE THE ILLEGALS OFF OF OUR BACKS, AND OUT OF OUR WALLETS.

It's psychological warfare here to make us give up our land, laws, language, flag, liberty, and our right to protect America and American citizens. And everyone sees right through now.
