Good afternoon,
I need help with a subject. Stuff is disappearing from my apartment. Valuable articles, such as video cameras, blenders, toasters, blankets..etc. The question is how do I talk maybe to somebody in the legal profession? I know I could call the police department, but I need to go further than that. Suggestions?

No... you just need to talk to the police, ASAP. There is nothing a lawyer can do for you until you know for certain who is doing this. Lawyers do not investigate crimes. If the police solve the case, then an attorney working for your city or county, meaning a district attorney, will prosecute the thief without any cost to you.

If you feel the need to go a step further than the police your next option would be either doing surveillance your self or call an investigator. Both will require a cost. It depends on how serious you are about it. First of all, go to the police. They may be able to help you decide who to go to next. They obviously, know the area and resources in your area.

If things are dissappearing from your apartment, then it is theft, and the local law enforcement agency, whether it be the police, the sheriff or the state cops are the ones to go to. They investigate thefts or burglaries, and they file charges and arrest people. Whom are you referring to when you say "further than that?" You need to go see whomever has jurisdiction in the area of your apartment, anyone "further than that" or "above" them will just refer you back to the locals.

Your first stop is the police. They will take a report, and then tell you the next steps to follow.
