NOPE!
Some people just use religion as an excuse to divide themselves and form a group of their own. If they have better excuse, like ethnic or race some of them may be go to fight for it more than religion...
Religion by itself doesnt divide. Whoever follows any religion can be just one, thoise who are theists...or spiritual seekers... they are all the same...they way they are going are just different ways to the same place, so they are all spiritual travellers... but if you find somewhere religion dividing know that it is not because of religion, but something else is behind it... which really needs to be solved...

Religion doesn't divide...another person's hatred for a religion that is not their own is what divides. And to address a few responses to this question that I have seen...no, all religions do not lead to the same place...duh...some lead to heaven, some lead to a cow's body in India, and some even lead to 70 virgins in paradise. To say that they all lead to the same place is to be completely ignorant of the reality in the argument that surrounds you. By their own definition they do not lead to the same place. This is just what someone says when they don't have the nerve to ask themselves, "am I right with God" or "is he pleased with me" or even "am I on the right road." I am going to start answering people that way when they ask me for directions, "oh don't worry, all roads lead to the same place, you will eventually get there."

Religion does not divide. It is the so called leaders of these religions, who divide the society, to thrive on the division.

Empatic yes....The worst thing to hit spirituality is "organized" religion.
Fact: More people have died in the name of one religion or another then in WW1, WW2, the plague combined.
2 many fanatics who all think they are right and will try to convince the masses at any cost.
The Middle East has been at war, effectively for the last 2,000+ years with no end in sight. Why? Because 2 infintely different cultures cannot come to grips with thier differences and live together.
I don't blame just Christendom or Islam for that matter...its humanity, there is an inate fear of that we don't understand. Americans and Europeans have an obnoxiousness to them, in many cases refusing to learn anything about different cultures.

Not only divides but by 1200.
Did you know that there are over 1200 different sects of Christianity in this country alone? Makes you wonder.

I don't get it. One book, the Bible, and so many interpretations. We all want it our way. I'd love to get God's take on the mess we've made of religion.
