My son is only 3 - and I don't plan on having him attend school until kindergarten.....he knows alot already so I don't see the need of putting him in a preschool right now. Plus he has several play groups and does great with other kids. I'm just worried about sending him to school....this is my first child!! Is this normal? There is just so much to worry about nowadays!!

If you just want to worry about your son, there are numerous things that could affect him, even without him ever attending school.People send their kids to school not because they want to get rid of them or because they don't care about them-it's quite the opposite. We want them to be better prepared for the higher classes & being around a teacher & kids who learn the same things as him will give your son a much needed confidence & comfort about facing kindergarten.Instead, you can plan to home-school him also,if that's an option for you. It's upto you to decide whats best for your son & how you want to go about it.Good Luck!

If he has an active lifestyle and is involved in play groups and interaction with other children I see no need to put him in preschool. You should however work on numbers and the alphabet at home as well as other simple activities, maybe even practice spelling his name and learning his phone number. Every mother is afraid of sending her child to school, especially the first. This is perfectly normal and I do agree going to school today is not like it once was, but try not to worry.

Yes, it's normal. Unfortunately one of the bad things that comes with being a mommy is the constant worrying. My mother once told me that once you become pregnant the worries never end. Even when your children are grown, then you will have grandbabies to worry about.
Anyways back to your origonal question, I am defiently afraid to send my kids to school and they are 18mo and 3 yrs. In ways I wish that I was able to homeschool them. There is so much stuff going on these days and I know it happens even at a younger age then I dealt with different things.
I think we just need to talk to our kids, show them what's right and wrong and have faith that our teachings will be enough. Best wishes
