What difference would it make? It's still the same deity. I think God is all genders, everything in general anyway.

Not a Christian, Jew or Muslim, but want to answer anyway. The first major Christian cathedral that didn't recycle a pagan site was the 'Hagia Sophia' or 'Wisdom of God' with God being feminine. Older Christians, Jews and Muslims recognise that god is beyond gender.
That said, yay for Goddess

We would live in a different world if everytime in the Bible the word "God" was replaced with "Goddess". I think the patriarchal (sp?) significance of God--if you trace it throughout history--is of supreme importance. We probably would have a lot more female priests! Which is funny...because I think if you look at the majority of "religious" people today...it's mainly women. If God was Goddess...maybe the majority of religious people would be men?
BTW, why does every answer demand another question??!!? so frustrating. :-)

That would be fantastic either way. God or Goddess i there to protect and help us through our troubles, and I personally don't think it matters at all whether God is a man or a woman, we are all equal anyway.

Techinically, God is neither. God has no gender. However, in comparison to "goddess," the word "god" is decidedly masculine. I prefer the simple, sexless version of God, without connotations of masculinity or femininity. Referring to God as "He" definitely negates the whole genderless concept of God, but I still don't understand why it's such a big deal to switch God from masculine to feminine. Please don't misunderstand me; I really don't like the general image of God as masculine, but I don't feel that redefining God as feminine will serve any real purpose, rather simply drag out the whole argument.

I love how you say what if and people go "nope!" Well I'm not a Christian (atheist) but I don't get why that would matter. I mean why not? God/Goddess/It is supposed to be sexless, right? so would it really matter?

God does not have a gender but presents himself in the male form. If God wanted to present himself as a female, he would have.

She would have told us. And she would have come in the form as a woman, when she redeemed us. But neither of these happened.
