Ow! That happened to a friend of mine just a couple of weeks ago!

I don't really think it's normal. You should immobilize the knee and see a doctor, if you haven't already. Good luck!

No, it is not normal for something to poke out when you bend your knee, torn ligament or not. I suggest immobilization and ice packs {no longer than 15 minutes at a time} until you can see a physician or if there is severe pain, an emergency department.

NO! If something is poking out- it can only be bone. If you have this situation you must go to an urgent care or emergency room as soon as possible.
Ligament is soft tissue and if it tears you will feel it, but not see it.

I had torn ligaments and cartilage and nothing "stuck out" of my knee when bent. What it could be is fluid from the trauma of the tear and you should go to your doctor to determine if it needs to be drawn out (they use a very big needle).

Mine does that. I tore my MCL, and my medial meniscus is not where it is supposed to be anymore. It is my medial meniscus that sticks out, and also, I have a lump that won't go away. If you are worried about it, you could go see an Orthopedic Surgeon.
