Contrary to popular belief, Evolution and Creation do *NOT* contradict each other. Compare the 'sequence' of one and compare to the other... they match! The fish of the sea... The crawlers of the land... The birds of the sky... The beasts of the field...
Most controversy originates from the fact that no part of the Bible (or any other religeous text) was originally written in English; as such, a lot of information is misunderstood due to the translations not being exact. The most noteable example of this is in Genesis 1:2 "And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep."
In the ORIGINAL text (at least the oldest we can find), it is actually closer to reading "And the earth became without form, and void; and darkness spread upon the face of the deep." Gee... Doesn't that sound a lot like the meteoric 'winter' that scientists claim erradicated most life on the planet (including the dinosaurs)?
What really gets me is the fact that people 4000+ years ago recorded these statements, which recent mankind is only beginning to utilize the scientific knowledge to make such conclusions. The harder mankind strives to favor either Evolution or Creation (and disprove the other), the more he only succeeds in proving that they are, in fact, one and the same.

DARWIN SAYS HIS THEORY IS NO MORE WITH HIS OWN WORDS
In Asia, Africa and Australia lives a remarkable creature the archerfish that shoots down its prey from the air above it with a burst of water. It uses its tongue and the top of its mouth to form a groove simiilar to a gun barrel. Then by compressing its gills it squirts water up to six feet with deadly accuracy -- in spite of the distortion caused by seeing the target from below the surface of water.
Evolutionists still don't know how the archerfish got its amazing abilities. They can only wonder. Viewid through the distortion of evolution they cannot explain how the archerfish gradually learned to not aim where its eyes see but to aim instead at a different spot where the target actually is.
Without its binocular vision it couldnot see the object with such precision and without the special shape of the upper mouth and a specialized tongue it could not make the groove it needs to shoot lthe concentrated jet of water. Many factors have to appear together and be perfectly formed for this shooting mechanism to work. This of course goes totally against Charles Darwin's evolutionary theory which is based on a gradual step by step process.
Darwin wrote in (The Origin of Species)-- "If it could be demonstrated that any complex organ existed which could not possibly have been formed by numerous successive slight modifications my theory would absolutely break down"(1859, p. 171).
The archerfish offers precisely such an example since several complex systems must all appear at the same time perfectly and not gradually formed--binocular vision,a specialized mouth and tongue, specialized gills to compress and expel water and an aiming system based in the brain and not in the eyes. If any of these parts is missing the mechanism will not hit the target and no survival advantage is created.
When you get down to the facts the archerfish with one squirt of its gills shoots down Charles Darwin's entire theory of evolution and that by Darwin's own admission!!!
So evolution doesn't have the answer to this mystery. But the Bible does. Genesis 1:20-21 says that God created all the creatures that live in the water. He created a great variety of perfectly formed fish including the archerfish with all its special features such as binocular vision other specialized organs and a built in ability to compenste for the distortion of the water

The theory of evolution is compatible with any religion. Very conservative Christians, Jews, Muslims and Wiccans don't believe it. Some of them don't believe the theory of planetary motion, either.

it is compatible with faith as long as the faith is there. No matter what any theory claims, all those religions state that our creation was brought out as a result of a higher being. Furthermore, the theory of evolution does not contradict any religious belief as long as it is understood that these acts, being proved consequently trough science, are all a work of something greater than us. yet even accepting the theory of evolution is stating that we are part of something greater than us, the progression and adaptation of beings in relations to their surroundings is awesome to create the world as we know it today, is that within itself aw inspiring.

One of my friends is a Wicca type pagan priestess who writes books on Wicca and pagan things. She has no problem with evolution. But then, the Vatican has no problem with it, either. I can't see how Wicca, and paganism in general, would have any objections to evolution, unless they were seriously into some kind of pagan creation myth, which most are not.

Wicca (from what I understand) is actually a bit flexible when it comes to belief. One suitable view incorporating both is that The Goddess is responsible for the growth and development of living things (maternal side).

This site may not have a theory of evolution, but it does have a story of creation.

Probably, once you take out the ideas that the big God/Goddess (I think there are three, Mother Goddess, Moon Goddess, and Father God or something) created everything as it is. But sure, why not?
