We have two cats - one loves the fountain, and think it's the best thing since sliced bread. The other isn't at all bothered. Mind you, the first insists on any sink in the house being filled with fresh water for him on demand, and will sit in the sink, waiting for it to be filled.
So, I think it's a matter of personal (or should that be "Purr-sonal"?) preference for the cat. If yours likes drinking water from the tap, or from the sink, he might well go for the fountain. If not, it might be an ill-advised purchase. Also, one thing that we hadn't considered - basically, because we hadn't thought about it at the time! - is that the fountain needs to be close to a plug socket. This can be awkward, depending on where you feed your cat.
Hope that helps!

My cats love there fountains. I have two and they won't drink from anything else. However if you cat is a kitten you may want to wait until he is more grown up. I had to put mine away when they were kittens because they would splash and play in the running water until it was empty. Pretty messy. Once they were more mature they no longer played in the water. Also kittens might bite on the cord and this is dangerous. It does have to be disassembled about once a week and thoroughly cleaned and disinfected but a plain water dish has to be cleaned daily. The filters can last up to a month depending on how many cats you have. They cost about ten dollars for a pack of three. Go ahead and treat you kitty to this unique fountain. He will love you for it and isn't he worth it?

We have three cats and got a fountain about a year ago. They love it. I think it encouarages them to drink more often and they have fun pawing at the running water. The fountains aren't too expensive and the replacement filters are cheap.
The only problem is that the fountain hums a bit loudly at times if there is not enough water in it.

Hi,
I work in a Vets and these fountains are becoming very popular (also with dogs!) They are very good, but you need to remember to unplug them at night. One of the Receptionists left the one on in the Waiting Room and it burnt the motor out. You can get them (I would advise as it would be much cheaper) via the internet and I have also seen them advertised in Your Cats magazine.

My mother has one of these. Her two cats love it. They were uncertain at first, but she turned the pump off so they could see that it was just water, and then they were comfortable with it. As an added benefit, she finds fewer bugs coming in to drown in the water bowl, now that it's moving water.

Brilliant products; my cats love theirs. Cats need fresh water all the time, and these go a long way to providing that.

My cat loves his! It takes out the chlorine via a filter and keeps the water fresh. It doesn't keep it refrigerated though, but that's OK, cause Freddy doesn't like cold stuff anyway!

I tried buying one of those for my cats. I've had many cats in my life and I have tried that for almost all of them.. I realized that my cats were afraid of it and went nowhere near it. That was just the result from my cats, but I think it completely depends on your cat.

I didn't even know those existed. I have a cat who loves waching water drip to the drain. He also loves to drink from it. Must look into that now. Since you are thiniking about getting one I'd say go for it. They'll love it.

Have one, love it except for the fact that they get clogged with cat hair easily (and food if really close to the food bowl) and you have to fill the resevoir almost every day. My cats love it, make sure you get extra filters.
