How do we know this is truly the end times? Hasn't that been said so often over centuries?

The phrase 'end times' does NOT occur in the Bible. Perhaps you're referring to "the time of the end" mentioned in Daniel (called "son of man": Dan 8:17, and "should repent": Num 23;19).

Daniel had "NIGHT visions" from reading a book (probably the five books of Moses collectively called law), and then he made nightmarish prophecies, but was finally told to shut up and seal the book, to the time of the end... perhaps the end of the law (Rom 10:4). Not to mention Paul (an apostle of JC by the will of God and "his witness to all men", including Daniel) notes "whether prophecies, they shall fail": 1Cor 13.

And we know prophecies can fail, since they did at Nenevah when the people believed God and the no name king disrobed, stepped down, and sat in the ashes, in the great fish story of Jonah.

As for Revelation, it's written as a latter end "worse" notable by "seven" spirits: http://www.godshew.org/Revelations9.htm , a worse case scenario to avoid, except for "the end" we are told to "endure unto to be saved(only)" and by grace(only).

As for some thoughts on what time it is, it's interesting to note two global graphs did kinda "shoot forth" in 1967 http://www.godshew.org/Graphically.htm as if sprinting to the end of the human race, which all run, but the prize is won by one (1Cor 9:24), and the one first finished (of two mentions of "finished" in John 17 & 19) is not "one proselyte", but "one Spirit" http://www.godshew.org/HumanRace.htm

As for rapture theories, it's already too late for all such, since the last (not just past) millennium had two false/true ends, the false one being Y2K, and also a countdown of 3 1/2 yrs (42 mos).

It's also the "third day" (beyond 2000) http://www.godshew.org/ThirdDay.htm of fwd AD-> only goes one way, perhaps the way the love(God) of Christ "constraineth" us to go, go on unto "perfection"... in the end.

Not only did Israel become a nation again in 1948, fulfilling prophesy regarding the timeline, but we as a collective world are closer than ever to a one world government which is part of the overall plan for the Antichrist to arrive. He will arrive and use the global government we put in place to rule over us, as it is written. It will come to pass exactly as it is written, just like everything else has.

Every day technology draws us closer together, and with this technology every person in the world will hear about his arrival. In Israel, every developed country has a news crew ready to tune in at any moment to the 'crisis' in the middle east. Turn on Cnn or Fox or any other 24 hr news channel and within an hour you are almost guaranteed footage of Israel, many times a live coverage with live views of various places around Mt. Zion. Think about the implications of this in the end times scenario, since Mt. Zion is where AC makes his appearance.

Also, most people overlook this one. Since 'modern technology' was developed, we are the generation that are literally ruining the earth. Look around us, has any generation previous to ours been so destructive to the planet itself? Maybe to one another, but not so badly to the actual earth. God told us He would destroy those who were destroying the earth in Revelations 11:18.

If we are not in the end times, we are definitely closer than any generation before us, right?

I would evaluate what is happenign to the world, see AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH the movie, the hurricanes, the earthquakes, the volcanoes erupting, the people killing each other worse than ever before its in every single country in the world except maybe Sweden.

Read the Bible its spelled out there too. Many false prophets. Many catastrophes (how many should we count fro the last 5 years?). AS a disaster relief aide who helped hurricane victims in Mexico, I realized that nothing like what is happening had happened before. Stronger hurricanes, more earthquakes, etc but i also realized that many times the places that got hit had many problems socially, morally, and much to do with not believing inGod and much drug usage and incest and what not. that area nearly got wipedout but it got rebuilt and things go on.

Sea level has risen drastically and will continue if people dont mind their own part about solving pollutions and other affecting earth.

Wars everywhre right? Africa. Middle east. Israel and Palestine (perennial fighting). countries against eahc other everywhere. Think of it!!

So we have not just natural disasters but human disaster everywhre. And take a look on even yahoo posts all the hatred spilled out there is unbelievable. everybody against everybody. Believers attacked big time, Jesus is insulted big time (check it out on the posts), people stating awful things against God. Who could be behind that? but satan!

Didnt God say Satan would try to amass all people against God? Do you think its happening? I do. These are his last days, so he is furiously revolting everything from people to disasters. NATURAL DISASTERS ARE NOT ALWAYS COMING FROM GOD, THEY CAN ALSO COME FROM SATAN. And cannot be called natural disasters by a believer anymroe.

TAKE A LOOT AT THE TSUNAMI FROM 2004! IN PHUKET ISLAND AND PHI PHI ISLAND (where the movie The Beach was filmed) right through the path of the tsunami. But take a grander look at where it devastated and how many it killed.

When was the last time you saw a Tsunami?

research all the earthquakes taking millions fo people to death. aside the rest of tragedies.

I think the end times started with WWII and Hitler to rise as the biggest of satan worshipers and full of satan that was poured onto the world. nOthing has gotten better since then.

The Bible gives a number of predictions that will happen before then; a temple being rebuilt (built) in Jeresualem (or somewhere), one method of payment (the euro is in effect), and many others. Daniel and Revalations.

Actually, many theologians don't like to admit it, but there are several instances in the bible wherein Jesus proclaimed the end of the world before the deaths of his followers and (obviously) is wrong since his disciples are long gone.

I'm sure it has been said before. THere is one difference though. This time all of the signs are happening (or are on the verge of happening) simultaneously, like the Bible said it would.
