What if those thoughts were put there by external forces?Anger,Hate, jelousy,gossiping,paranoia(most of us are to a certain extent!)and all the other incessant thoughts which tumble around in our minds until they are filed away somewhere within.Would that mean we would all be spiritual beings of the highest degree?

Inside ur question there seems to be a longing for freedom from responsibility. If you didnt think a thought how could you be responsible for it? There are two gates on your mind. The first one is open but the second one is patrolled by you. All gets through the first one but you are responsible for all entries into the second. If you dont like a thought dump it out!

Actually you are partly correct.
We have our own thoughts, but they can and are influenced by not only the devil, with his suggestions mimicking your own thoughts to a point of making them appear to be your own, And thus causing you to sin and think it's ok.
But, suppose you are living a Godly life and God wants you to do something.....He won't tell you to do it, but he will send an Angel to put the thought into your mind, that it should be done. FACTS>>

yours alone. Don't ever blame anyone for your own creations.
the thoughts you get may or may not be induced from 'external forces'.
