My new neighbors are from some foreign country and it smells like an open sewer when they cook. My other neighbors and I can't figure it out. Any ideas?

the Hmong cook some kind of fish gruel that they seem to like more the worse it smells, if they use a microwave at work nobody goes near it for hours

It's hard to say. People eat some really weird stuff. I remember I had a neigbor once that used to eat this stuff that smelled like, I don't know, rotten meat? Sewage? It was horrid. But anyhow, they were Mormons from Utah, so I doubt it was the same stuff as your neighbors.

Asians use all of dried and preserved meats like dried shrimp that stink so much a lot of time they cook them outside. At lest that's what my Vietnamese sister in law says.

I'd guess they are frying something in rancid oil. Many people use cooking oil over and over, they just strain it after each use. After awhile it just goes bad. AND smells bad.

probably lamb of some type or mutton! if they are foreigners then they by sheep and lambs and slaughter them their selves. they might be boiling it or curing it some way!
