Because Muslims believe that Jesus was a prophet, much like Moses. Any affirmation is, I believe, of the Old Testament in much the way that a Christian would affirm the Old Testament. The dispute and conflict come with the whole "son of God" claim.
Muslims have never "ignored" the existence of the New Testament: they just don't believe that Jesus was the son of God.

Because, we, Muslims believe that people changed Bible, and changed the real religion. And people added "the trinity" belief, and this is just one of the "wrong" beliefs in Christianity, that has been changed!
So, no, what do you know is wrong! We don't reject, we just believe that it has been changed by people!
Songbird: Islam does not say if you do not convert you must be killed! No Muslim believes that, non-Muslims must be killed!
Maybe you don't know, but almost in every Muslim country, there are many Christians, Jews and many other! Just look at the history, and today's Muslim countries; Pakhistan(they even didn't release Da Vinci Code, because Christian citizens would be hurt), Iran, Turkey, Bosnia, Malaysia etc....

Because in Christian theology there is a mentioned that The Lord God is Jesus, is The Holy Spirit, and God himself. The holy trinity is denounced by Islam because the ambiguity of the trinity it self. Islam only believes in One god, and that God is not a spirit and that God does not have a son. That is the reason why. This is because the First Commandment severely prohibits that, "there is no other God but God himself." By Christians praying to the Holy spirit, to Jesus and to God himslef; it is against the first commandment and therefor it is sinful.
Not to mention that the system of Saints and patron saints had cross the line of not praying to God himself.

Because "Christian" theology is really "Pauline" doctrine invented by a pagan Roman Emperor in 325 CE (ad).
Muslims ignore them because they are forgeries by the Catholic church.
Who would better understand Arabic (Hebrew) myths, a Roman Emperor or Arabs?
I believe the Arabs know more about their own culture and history than Italians.

We don't ignore the Bible or the new testament, we only recognise that their have been alterations in the bible by people who have no authority to do so. If the bible is the whole truth, then how dare anyone rewrite it? Who dares to rewrite God's word? Who are you to do so? Who gave you the authority to do so? The bible or the 'injeel' as it is refered to, and the Torah are all part of the truth, not the whole truth, since unfortunately, some have undertaken to edit it as they see fit.
As to your claim that the Quran is somehow a copy of the bible, that is simply untrue.
Their are many scientific truths in the Quran that have only been proven in the last centuries. A few hundred years ago, the process of birth was not even known, yet the Quran mentions the process, from the seed to the embroyo to birth etc. This is a basic example, other examples include the expansion of the universe, the roundness of the earth(this centuries before Colombus) sub atomic particles, black holes, relativity of time e.t.c.
We muslims recognise the Jews and the christians as the 'people of the book', meaning that a message was sent to you via a messenger of God. We recognise the all the prophets from Adam to Jesus, and yes we do recognise that Jesus will return and slay the antichrist and bring peace to the earth.
But pray to do tell, what did Jesus mean by this:
John 14:16 "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever"
John 15:26 "But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, [even] the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me"
John 14:26 "But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."
John 16:7-14 "Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, [that] shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew [it] unto you."
Now, whom do you think Jesus was referring to? Yeah, you have objections and I'm sure you want to scream Holy Spirit, but read further on the link that I have provided.............. then we can continue this argument.
God is great and Muhammad and Jesus and Moses were his messengers.
Today We have perfected your religion for you and completed Our favor upon you. (The Holy Quran 5:4)

Actually it says that the Jewish and Christian religions are perverted, and that Islam is the correct version of these religions. The funny part is that they then say that Islam respects other religions because it affirms the Jewish and Christian religions!!!!
