I've read quite a bit of it, and the more I read the more I realize how utterly bogus it is when taken literally.
Oh, and I think "jackiedj8952" ment to say you needed to have your ears poisoned and be brainwashed by a preacher or someone. That's what she ment by "spiritual ears".
She's right in a way, you first need someone to tell you that this book is perfect in everyway and if you don't believe in it you will go to hell, because without that it'll just be another book of fantasy and make believe.
I encourage christians to be honest with themselves and go here to give your ex-christian testimony:

I'm not a good reader. I've been through college and all, and have several degrees, but I realize that I have a low retention when I just read. And when I take notes and/or underline in the book my retention skills do go up but not enough to satisfy my want to comprehend and grasp something as awesome as the Bible. And I remembered in my college days that the more notes I took and the more underlining I did in the book, the greater retention I had, and so, when one day long ago I finally began to grasp the significance of the Bible, and tried to develop a "study plan" of the Bible, I began realizing that, if I took notes of the Bible, that meant that I felt some of God's words were more important than others. And then it hit me. If I take notes, I'm editing God's Words, and who am I to think that some of God's Words are important and some are not!! But that meant that I'd have to note ALL of God's Words, or otherwise known as COPY the Bible, front to back. So, if God was all I came to believe He was, well, that didn't seem too big a task, having written a few dozen term papers and a couple of theses in my time. So, around 20 years ago, I sat with a ball point pen, a Bible (the New International Version) and loose-leafed paper like you buy for school, and I started copying the Bible from Genisis 1:1 to the end. Seven and three-quarter years later, I got through. And I realized that that was the most awesome experience I had ever had in my life. I also realized that I was through with my undertaking, and felt scarily void of the closeness with God I felt all those years doing it. And it dawned on me. I could do it again. I could get another version, copy it as well, and "compare" styles and interpretations, etc., just to get a clearer view. So I picked two of the most orthodox Roman Catholic versions I could find and decided to do both of them at the same time, for a close "intra-denominational" learning experience. It's FABULOUS!!!!! Oh, it's slower doing two at the same time, doing a chapter in one version and then going to the other version and copying the same chapter over again. But this time, I didn't copy say, a chapter at a time. I copied a verse at a time, and may not copy the other version of the same verse for a day or two or three until I've had time to reflect and pray on the verse and version I had just copied. It has become more of a prayerful study this time, and nothing could be more wonderful. Have I read the Bible from beginning to end. I have copied it at least once from beginning to end and am in the process of two more copies, by hand, and am now in Proverbs Chapter 15, on the second version. And until you've done the same, all your short little videos are just trash to be laughingly washed away. Try what I've done. Write slowly, in your BEST penmanship, no more than a chapter a day, if you can do that, and when you're through, come back to yahoo answers and say hello. You surely won't be the same person. God Bless you.

Let me take a few of these.
1)How many men did King David's chief kill. One place says 300 and another says 800.
Most believe this is a copyist error. Considering the similarities between them it is amazing that there are not more.
2Was abraham justified by faith or works?
This is a cheap ploy by skeptics. If one actually studies this and reads the whole thing there is no contradiction. One writer tells those with works that they must also have faith. The other tells those with faith, that if their faith is real they must have works to go with them.
3)how many son's did Abraham have? Isaac was his only son from Sarah. The others were from his concubines Hagar and Keturah. During the time of Abraham he could take them as whatever he wanted. Wife or concubine. Sarah he loved and she was his wife. Hagar became a problem for Sarah and was cast out. Keturah seems to have meant more to him than Hagar but not as much as Sarah. Other translations call Keturah his concubine.
We could go on forever. The point is that the bible will never make sense to you unless you study it and learn about the culture of that time. A fool can point at anything and say this doesn't make sense. With some wisdom it becomes clearer.

I think if you are going to read the Bible, you NEED a law course in interpretation. The idea is to try to understand what the WRITER was attempting to say, not to listen to some other commentator pour his/her meaning into a text. Any document taken out of context can be made to sound "stupid".Try to find a meaning that is both consistent and logical (it is there, I've read the book cover to cover over 20 times). By the way, did you know the Bible is a Jewish book?
You are not ridiculing the Jewish literature, laws and culture, are you? That would be anti-semetic, and would put you in the same catagory as Adolf Hitler. Surely you do not take that approach to life, do you?

as a favor to an old freind read Ex. 3.14 about the I AM and translated that to numbers as 9 1 13 and turn to Rev. 9.11 and see the god of the italians.
so A'bad'don as KING of the Angels of the Abyss whereas i say that He is A'b'add'on. And that makes b=M as I AM= I A IVI(stitched together)
And the Lamb SLAIN=LarribSLAIIV is a description of My arm. Not this mythacal Jesus who DIED along time ago. If bible says God JEhovah's spirit will not work on mandking forever in that he is flesh also means that Jesus is flesh also. And thus dead cause the persians say the translation of the bible is atleast 600 years old.
Thus the Lamp=Lamb means that p=b which is like my arm in a certain light.
and bible means will, like of the dead.
but the evil churches want yoyu to believe the Lamb SLAIN was Jesus and married to the bride which is their church. This is homosexual faggism and church controllers wanting your rights, money and children to keep the rich richer and to squash any challenge to their power to hurt people who want nothing to do with their ways. just like happend to your ancestors at one time in you history even if you are the whitest white man in history.
long live Freedom in Canada.
