Well, there's two feelings to this: 1) He's opening the door for me because he cares for me, or 2) He's opening the door for me because he views me as an inferior female who cannot open the door for herself. So it depends on the person. Most people, however, just find it polite.

Why on earth would I be offended if a man opened a door for me?

No I am not a womens activist. I use to like to do every thing myself just to show men that I could do whatever they could. But I realized one day as I got older that though I could do almost anything they could , that there were some things that actually I couldn't , or could not do as well or as fast or as easily. You see we men/women need each other, we were made different for a reason and there is nothing wrong with admitting. When a man wants to do something nice for me now I am glad to let him, I appreciate kindness and I love men, along with all there quirks, just as I'm sure they love us and ours. Gentlemen you may open my doors at any time and I will open them for you also its only manners as my granddaughter always says, she is 4!!!!!!!!!!

Why get offended that someone is being polite? I hold the door open for people as well. It's not so much being a gentleman as just being courteous.

No way! I think it's very charming and not at all as common as it should be! I'm particularly impressed if a guy knows the rules: let a woman go in front of you while holding the door, but if it's a revolving door, the guy goes in front to push it for her.

No, why would you be offended. It's typical for a man to hold a door for you. When someone holds the door for you you don't get offended, I am quite appreciative.

Can you imagine holding a door open for someone, have them walk through, and roll their eyes at you and give you a sarcastic "thanks"? no one does that.

I always open door for the ladies. In fact, I hold them open for all sorts of people. Courtesy is so scarce nowadays, that people sometimes are surprised with the gesture.

Hell no...I love it. But unfortunately, most who do that are wanting a little something in return for dinner and a little kindness. But you can usually tell if that is the case. And when it is...I open my own door and don't see him again.

No. I am honored. Of course I like when women hold the door for me as well. It is just folks being nice.

Nope, but I'm not offended if he doesn't open it either. I just wanna get in the door...don't care how, really.
