"If your a real Christian you wouldnt ______" add anything. Lie, steal, cheat, divorce, curse, be homosexual, drink, etc.
Why the assumption real, faith believing Christians cant make mistakes, use their free will to make a choice, accept the consequences and live their lives. REAL Christians who sin, and can admit to it, to themselves, to God, to others, don't they deserve respect as they do not sin, AND try to hide it, making themselves hypocrites?

All people sin because we are not perfect and that includes Christians. We all sin!! Christians are to confess their sins, be truly repentant, and make a firm resolve to sin no more to be forgiven. We are forgiven, then we sin again. Its a cycle but Jesus knows each of our hearts and He alone decides who will receive Salvation and His mercy and forgiveness. I think it is a little harsh to call them hypocrites because most are trying to live in example of Jesus but because we are human, we fall far short and do occassionally fall into sin. What I do not believe is the assumption by some that "Once saved, always saved"...that is not true because we cannot claim to be saved and then go on our merry way committing sin and expect forgiveness with no need of repentence and confession, simply on the basis that Jesus died for our sins.....Yes, He did, but He also gave us very clear and concise teachings on how to live our lives as a true disciple. Look back at Peter...did not Peter sin in denying our Lord three times...but he was repentant and Jesus forgave him. Bottom line...........We all Sin...its how we deal with it that makes the difference.

I agree. Even the bible reminds us that we have all sinned. Jesus was the only man without sin. The difference is that Christians should not practice sin. Meaning that when you know something is wrong you should try to change your ways. Our God is a loving and merciful God who forgives us of our wrong-doings, just as we should forgive ourselves and each other. But even Christians are still accountable for the choices we make. The term "what goes around comes around" has been coined from the scripture that whatever a man (or woman) sows, he shall also reap. This means that we must have consequences for our actions.
I know there are some people out there who try to pretend they have never done anything wrong. These people are just as you said, hypocrites. And just like every other category of people in the world, even Christians have some in the group who refuse to follow the rules. Being Christian doesn't mean we don't ever make mistakes. It doesn't mean that we are perfect. It means that we recognize that Christ came to atone our sins so that we could have the gift of eternal life. It is a gift we will never be worthy of, and the fact that we accept Christ does not make us any more important than anyone else in this world.

Yes. Everyone does sin; it's a matter of taking responsibility for one's actions that elevates the confessor above the rest of the (Christian) population. It's the Ken Lays of the Christian world who really are the most maddening. Here's a 'Christian' who has now been found guilty on several counts against him. He hurt people, completely destroyed their people's lives, then lied about doing it. He stated, like so many Christians in the spotlight, that God is on his side and he did nothing wrong. Forget that we are innocent until proven guilty in the mortal courts' eyes, it is from God's eyes this one cannot hide. If you believe, then you also believe that God is the only judge and our petty squabblings here on earth are quite arbitrary since we cannot claim with absolute certainty to know God's will. He gives good Christians, perhaps good religiously-minded people more generally, a bad name.
It is the Ken Lay style of hypocrisy which we need to separate from the cream of the Christian crop. Most people are inherently good and try to do right by their neighbor and act in a moral and ethical fashion following whatever dogmatic path. Those are true Christians, Muslims, Mormons, Buddhists, what have you. The Ken Lays of the dogma aren't Christian at all. They are, simply put, evil.
All that said, I believe people people who can own up to their transgressions do deserve respect. I have no respect for the Ken Lays who try to hide behind their religious self-righteousness when they have sinned.

who ever said Christians don't sin? i know i never said that. i always say church is a place for sinners to go to worship and learn about God. not in anyway is a christian perfect or sinless. we are just forgIven all because of God's grace. we are no better than anyone else. ive lied, cheated and even got a divorce 8 years ago, the marriage was a big mistake. I swear but i don't use Gods name in vain ever and i hate hearing other people do it. I'd rather hear the f word. but by no means am i sinless. all i know is i love the lord and i do my best to serve him and be nice to others and help when i can. when you become a christian your past sins are washed away, forgotten by God.

Real Christians try to avoid sin out of love for Christ. So the better a Christian, the more unlikely they do sin.
But Saint Paul says that "all have sinned." That means every Christian too.
By the way, a hypocrite is a person who says one thing and does another. A person who says a thing but fails is not a hypocrite.

Romans 3:23 says-- For all has sinned and come short of the glory of God.
1 John 2:8 says --If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.
The scriptures are written for our examples, to by pass the sins of our forefathers. The two scriptures above are written to Christians.
There was only ONE person that walked the face of the earth without sin that was Jesus. Mankind will never reach perfection.we in this Christian journey is striving to be Christ like.

Sin is something that harms your neighbor i.e. lie, steal, cheat, curse at someone. Drinking? hmm Jesus turned water into wine after they drank it all. Maybe they got drunk? I dont know. Noah got drunk after they left the ark. Homosexuality does not hurt anyone how is it a sin? Yes I know what the scripture says but if you look in Genesis 19 when the two angels went to Levi's house the men at Sodom wanted to rape the two angels. God destroyed it because of forcing against one's will. Rape and consensual homosexuality/heterosexuality are two different things one harms and one doesn't. God looks at the heart and if in the heart of a homosexual person is the most loving, nicest, gentle, caring person that believes Jesus died for him, that is all that Jesus says in John 3:16. There are no added conditions.

Romans 3:10
Its say that there is no one righteous, not even one. Christian do sin , we fall short of the glory of God all the time. The things is that we get back up and dont go back to the same mistake. We have to ask God for forgiveness daily, because we can sin, by our actions, the words we speak, the way we treat others and so forth. what happens in a person life is between them and God. We can't judge them unless is for their own good not for gossip but for their personal edification. Between you and that person. Dont condem the person: condem the act and whats behind it (Satan).
May the Lord Bless

Unfortunately you seem to have missed the 'real' qualification preceding the 'Christian'. That is the most important part of the statement. It does not claim that a Christian cannot commit a sin. A real Christian who is constantly aware of Christ by his side would either not tread the wrong path or would pull himself'/herself away at the moment. It is true it is difficult to reach that level but then the path of virtue is narrow and straight.Of course even if a Christian goes wrong there is always the hope of salvation for him.

I am a real Christian. When I became a Christian the desire to sin stopped. That doesn't mean that I haven't sinned since i became a Christian , it means if i do sin the Holy Spirit tells me about it so i can confess it and get it under the Blood of Jesus. Do you see the difference? The Lord is my helper.

Mistakes are not in question here...Sin is.
Sin its willful disobedience against the Word of God. The Holy Spirit gives us the Power to live above sin, helping us make the Right choice.
