1st i must tell u what is virtual memory
the virtual memory "windows call it page file" is a part of ur hard drive used by the proccessor as a memory"Ram"
but it's off course much slower
the reason that u get this message can be 1 of the following:
1-the main memory u have is small for ur windows
2-u configured ur windows to use a limited amount of hard drive space
3-ur hard drive is nearly full in the windows installion drive

Virtual Memory is like RAM only it is stored on the hard drive when the computer is running so there for your computer (windows) makes so much space on the hard drive for the computer to use for running software and all.. once you restart the computer or turn it off all things that were in the RAM or VM are lost!

Also in windows you can change how much space your VM is using and can make it more in need be but remember to have
a big hard drive!
So there for you need more RAM!! You can buy it at the store..

It depends on your operating system. It is very easy to manipulate the size of your pagefile. In XP right click My Computer\Properties\Advanced Tab\Performance Setting (button)\Advanced Tab\Virtual memory\Change (button). Set to System managed size. Or larger/smaller if you like.

Run disk cleanup to free up some hard drive space.

How much RAM do you have? Do a ctrl+alt+del and look under process to see what is eating up your memory.

what you have told us is all very well, but do you do basic housekeeping on your PC? you say you don't download much, but do you delete cookies, temp Internet files, etc. do you do disk clean up weekly, defrag monthly. all these contribute to a happy healthy PC.
