I am, and it would appear that many people who have answered know absolutly nothing about the Seventh-day Adventist Church. So many lies and misconceptions out there.

I am, but I admit to being what the church calls "a backslider." I am not what you would call a practicing Seventh-day Adventist, but I believe in the fundamentals of a good and wholesome life. According to me, the most important fundamental belief is "do unto others as you would have them do unto you." This concept supercedes specific organized religions and applies to HUMAN BEINGS.
As a 3rd Generation SDA, I can't understand how other religions cans say that the Bible was changed, but I still reserve the right to let them practice their religion as they see fit. I think you have to be a good person to get to Heaven, not practice a certain religion.
As a "backslidden" SDA, I question some of the tenets of the church, even to the point of asking how much of the Bible is really true and how much is just a story.
Kind of a dichotomy, eh?!
By the way, a Seventh-day Adventist isn't just someone who goes to church on Saturday...it is a specific Christian religion. There are also Seventh-day Baptists, whose beliefs are different than Seventh-day Adventists....their common point is just that they worship on Saturday.

Hi catzblueiz,
I am a Seventh Day Adventist and have been for over 16 years now.
I find so interesting and dissaponting how some members or ex-members of our church have so many misconseptions of the church and it's teachings.
First of all, we don't teach (as a church any way) that if you don't belong to this church (religon) you won't go to heaven, that's just wrong according to the book of revelations, we however were chosen as a special group of people to carry a special message (rev. 14) which no other church is doing right now.
The Bible speaks of the great multitude which includes people from all over the world regardles of religion and which will be saved.
Therefore we're not a cult and if anyone member is teaching that, then please pray for them so that the Holy Spirit can guide him to all truth (absolute truth, not relative).
What is freedom from the law? According to the Bible (Romans 8) There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. What does that mean? What is walking according to the flesh? Well, those who do not comit sin (are working on the sanctifications process by the Holy Spirit).
Being "free from the law", does that mean that we should, since we're "free from the law" we can now kill? or commit adultery? or lie? or whatever the law says we should not do? I find it so interesting and hipocritical of those who say that they're now "free from the law" and say that, "oh, no, we don't kill, we don't lie", etc. but when asked about the 7th day (Saturday) they always have an excuse and say, "oh, well, it was 'given' to the Jews" when in fact the "Jews" did not even exist when the Sabbath was created in creation week.
Also, not be "under the law" is to not be breaking it, as with any law. If you know that taking a red light could result in an accident and/or a ticket, if you obey the law, then you're "free from the law" for not braking it, but when you decide to take the red light then you are under the law which says that you should not take a red light.
The real church of God (not religion) is composed of all kinds of people from all religions and God accepts everyone that wants to do his will in to his flock.
I hope this helps to understand a little better what the Seventh Day Adventist church stands for.
Please keep in mind that no church is perfect, in fact, I like to think of church as a hospital for sinners, in which Jesus the Doctor of doctors can help you heal and help you to start a new happy life... after all, "And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. John 17:3.

I am NOT a Seventh day adventist, but I follow all the 10 commandments of God, including the Sabbath day. been keeping it for 23 years, and I can testify, its a really blessed, set-apart day. Just have a feeling an amazing number of Christians who think they are "saved" may have a surprise waiting when Jesus returns ;-)

I am, and in response to whynotaskdon the official stance of the SDA church is against the idea that "you have to be part of our group to make it to Heaven."

My wife was raised in the sdv church. We now attend a non-denominational church and are enjoying our freedom from the law. Read Corinthians and Romans and it will give you insight and freedom.
