People are scared of what they don't completely understand - and for someone who doesn't actually sit and study the Bible they aren't going to fully understand it and the love God offers to us

Very simple. It's because the Bible is not just a story book, or a history book, or a mystery book or a sci-fi book, or a psychology book. It's a book about life at it's finest, even when times are incredibly tough, AND, in order for you to "believe" the Bible, you have to actually step into it, thereby stepping out of everything you've come to "know" as "real", that your five senses pick up on. It takes immeasurable bravery and trust and faith to step off into something that you "know" by your five senses is not very credible or stable, and realize that it's the ONLY reality around. It takes guts, and there ain't much of that around, not always in me either I'm sad to say, despite all the "tough" sounding, "intelligent", "educated" individuals who have "studied" and "researched" the Bible and "life" in general and think they've found all the answers and are the personification of wisdom and knowledge. Let me share with you that I too felt that way about myself once upon a time, and must have some fantasy still about being "wise" and "knowing" or I wouldn't be answering questions here on Yahoo answers. But just about the time you're sufficiently full of yourself, God will step in and show you just how empty you are in comparison to Him. That's when you fall to your knees in prayer, and grab His "Owner's Manual" as the Bible has been called, and find out where, and how far you're off the course. I guess it's people's egos, people's pride that makes believing in God and His Bible so difficult for us. Some people really think that we are the center of the universe, kinda like that guy long time ago thought that the earth was the center of the universe. That was a good one!! God Bless you, and keep on keepin' on!!

I think it is for two main reasons:
1. We have a tendency to believe in those things we can see. Obviously, we can see the Bible, but we can't see God. So, we tend to question it more. This is logical, in my opinion.
2. Especially with the Bible- it is thousands of years old. It doesn't change. So, it starts to feel very out of date and, thus, not relevant to our lives in today's modern world.

"i think it's fear or they are heartless, selfish and uncaring
blinded "
Thanks.
Let me tear that to shreds.
First off, heartless is ridiculous, cut us open and there it is, a heart. Lincoln is thought to be an atheist, and wouldn't you say he had a heart? Prisons are about 90% Christian, and about 1% atheist.
Actions speak louder than words.
Selfish. Ironic, we're out trying to make the world a better place while Christians are spending billions of dollars and billions of hours trying to save their own souls.
Uncaring. Right, and saying that makes her SO caring.
Blinded. Who's the one saying basically "I'm right, you're wrong, deal with it."? I would say that is pretty blind.
Ok, now why is it hard to believe? Because there are so many holes of logic in the texts. Like why did God send himself onto the earth to kill himself to forgive everybody? Why not just say "you are all forgiven"

I believe in God and Goddess, but not that the Bible is the world's most authoritative scripture. In fact I don't respect it much at all. Higher criticism has shown it to be full of folklore, myths, mangled history, lies and literary stories. I get my scriptures elsewhere - the Vedas, the Bhagavad-Gita, the Dhammapada, the Tao, and so on.

Because it is too good to be true. I mean someone they didn't know, gave his life for them, because of him he purchased their salvation. God won't turn away anyone who asks for his forgiveness and seeks to do his will. Everyone thinks they have to give up so much to follow him. But I think you are so busy and happy doing the do's that you won't want to do the don'ts.
DON"T be taken in by any of these unbelievers, either. Satan has quoted scripture before. Remember in the desert when Christ was being tempted. He asked Christ, "If you are the son of god, prove it by jumping of this ledge. Doesn't it say in God's word that he will give the angels charge over you." Christ replied, "You should not tempt God!" That's like saying if you are saved you don't have to wear a seat belt because God will take care of you. But he has been known to allow us to suffer the consequences of our actions. Other wise how would we know between right and wrong? Later he told Satan to go back to where he came from. So, don't forget. Unbelievers will twist God's word to suit their purposes, too.

. Unless the Holy Spirit draws them they want believe. A person knows within their heart when they are doing something wrong and they know when God is trying to tell them that they need to accept Jesus as their personal savior, but they quench the Holy Spirit . They also don't want to give up things that is sin. They don't want nobody ruling over their life

Because I believe in real things. The Bible is a work of fiction. It's fairy tales. I'm not interested in basing my life on fairy tales.

They keep getting caught up in the world and believe only what their five senses tell them. The sixth sense gets shut out by what they perceive as being real,adult,etc... Peace.
