I love, love, love the north shore of Kauai.
My husband and I were looking for privacy in a beautiful, natural setting. We rented a pole house (the whole house is on stilts so you have a great view). Our backyard was the beach, a prime surf spot, which we loved b/c we're both surfers. There were beautiful, rare shells on the beach in the morning. At night, it rained and the gekkos chirped in the house.
Fifty yards down the beach was an amazing snorkeling spot called Tunnels. There was a huge reef with a 30-foot drop off, where one could see hundreds of colorful fish, octopus, eels and occasionally, sea turtles. That part of the island is very green and it felt like we were living in a jungle.

Boracay, Philippines: Love that "sugar fine, white, sand. Endless blue warm water" beach. If you have $10.00, you can buy 3 items: a batik sarong, a colorful straw hat and 3 glass-bead bracelets. It's unusual too since there.were more foriegners there who own properties than the locals.
