but can't you say that of any religion?

I see so many protestants vilifing the Catholics on this system. I'm curious why.

Because the Catholics have a much longer history of doing terrible things, since it's 1500 years older than Protestantism. They had a huge head start.

Plus, since Protestant ministers can marry, they don't generally abuse children, like so many Catholic priests have.

Also, the Protestant church has never been as RICH as the Catholic church.

Also, the Protestant church is actually largely based on the New Testament. Most tenets of the Catholic Church are based on tradition and not the Bible. Purgatory, transubstantiation, the immaculate conception (as opposed to the Virgin Birth, two different things), Limbo . . none of these things are in the Bible.

I'm not against Catholics. However, the only thing that *does* concern me is that some Catholics have only a *religion* and not a relationship with their Creator. But I am sure that there are many Baptists, Lutherans, Pentecostals, etc., who fit into this category.

My question to *you* is, have you been Born Again, the way Jesus commanded in the third chapter of John? In other words, have you received the new birth that comes from God?

Our first birth, which is a birth of the flesh, because we come from the womb, ends in physical death. But when a person is Born Again (receives Christ as personal Lord and Savior), even though that person will still die physically, that person will live eternally with the Lord in Heaven. See John 11:25.

Not all protestant Christians dislike Roman Catholics. Mainly evangelical and pentescostal dislike them. I wouldn't say that it is because of thier violent past. Right now evangelicals are giving Christianity a bad rep.
The reasons they do are because the feel the Mass is to ritualized and that the service should be "free" and "spirit led". They also dislike the devotion to Mary and other saints. I was personally raised to think this way but now know better.

Catholics are Christians. Not all Christians however are catholic. Everyone worships differntly and thats ok. Who is to judge which worship is acceptable but God alone?

Its not that christian are against the catholics. There are some catholics who live what they preached and there are some who do the opposite, just like any other religion. The things is that the catholics religion makes saint out of everything and anyone. The bible clearly says "you shall have no other gods before me". Christian and catholics dont agree with that.

I don't think Christians are against Caholics because Catholics are Christians. I think it's just they way they worship and the way they believe. Like confession, nuns, priests...etc. There are differences but some people are blinded by that fact...don't worry bout them. They will have to answer for that, being judgemental. They have no right to sit in the seat as the judge, only the One can do that.

There is a common confession in the Apostles Creed but still the dividing sword of 500 years ago remains. There is only a remnant of "reformed" protestants out there and most others have become dull and are easily led astray by every wind of doctrine. The Anathema's of the Catholics still stand and they have not renounced them. The article on justification still remains and those who hold to being justified by faith alone are Anathema (cursed) by the Catholics. This is no small issue. Either we stand before God clothed only in the perfect righteousness of Christ (imputed or charged to you), or , we need to be somewhat righteous in ourselves (infused) So we offer only Christ at the bar of justice or Christ and some or our own righteousness. Big difference and the doctrine of salvation is at stake so we had better get it right.

and there are still mistakes being made today , for one the Bible tells us to pray to God through Jesus , and what do the catholics do ? they pray to Mary. The Bible tells us that the only way to the Father is through salvation through Jesus. and what do the catholics do ? they try to pray the dead person into Heaven . this is just two things that the catholics do that is against what the Bible says , and they teach this stuff.... i wont get into the whole pope thing, who is just a man , or the whole bead thing . the answer to your question is so clear that the question didn't need to be ask to find the answer..... you may say that i try to judge , which is not true , you ask and i answered. this is not judging, this is telling the Truth

Most Christians I know of who oppose Catholicism have problems with the practices of the Catholic church ... the strong human hierarchy, the emphasis on Mary, what they perceive to be idolatry etc.

When you say "mistakes made in the past," I assume you mean things like the Inquisition. I wouldn't say that's a problem for Christians exclusively.

Give him a break. So he left out the word 'other', as in, other Christians. You don't make mistakes? everybody makes mistakes, even Catholics. I have nothing against the Catholic church nor the people in the church. It's the born again Christians who are scary!
