Genereally, yes. The first time is always the worst for most women. I am told because things haven't had a chance to articulate themselves in such a way that they can handle penetration. It also depends on the guy and how he does things.
If he is just wanting to get things done for him and not thinking aout things for you, then it's not gonna be great, but if you find someone who cares and gives as much as they recieve, then usually it is a wonderfull experience and you don't seem to notice any pain so much either.

Are you guy or girl asking? I am assuming a girl. Let me guess it was your first time correct? The first time is always like that, you were probably nervous or it hurted or mybe you are not ready or too scared to do it. Maybe you should wait for the right person and the right time.

Well sex is supposed to be something each partner enjoys. If you didn't enjoy it, like most girls do, then there might be something internally wrong. I'm not trying to be mean, just being honest and telling you from what I know, you might want to get it checked out.

Heh, the first time I had sex, it was soo bad. We both struggled just trying to get 'it' in. It was painful. And uncomfortable.
But the guy was one of the nicest guys I've ever met. I'm still friends with him.
My advice would be to do it with someone you trust, above all.
And practice makes perfect!

In my opinion "girls" should NOT be having sex. "Women" should be having sex. And sex is usually not so good the first few times...but it gets better....for most women.

and kinda ruins relationships sometimes

well i do with my husband. Just cause you did it only once is not enough to judge. He was probably just real bad.
And besides your first time is always weird or painful. But practice makes perfect.
