yes, absolutely you can give them a bath, i give all 4 of my cats baths about twice a year (more is not necessary) and one of them actually likes the water... i have shower doors in one of my bathrooms so they can't escape and i hold them real close while drying them off and brush them when they're almost dry. (good as new)

I've bathed every cat I've ever had, and I've had many.
Lay out a towel on the bathroom floor and counter if you have one.
Get the water the right temp in the tub or sink.
The hard part is getting hold of them, they're so smart, they can sense when you want them for something 'not fun' LOL.
Once you have hold, just get in the bathroom and shut the door so they can't escape.
Might have to start off holding them by the back of the neck to get them under the water (I hate to do that but...).
Just hold them down with one hand and wash with the other.
Also handy to have a pitcher or large container to help rinse them good.
Once they're done, I think they all like to be brushed, but as soon as it's over they fly out the door really fast HEH HEH

You can if you want. However you shouldn't put a leash on the cat to contain it. A cat's neck muscles aren't as strong as a dog's.Hold it with one hand at the back of the neck. Start with the rear end of the cat first and avoid getting water and soap in its eyes as this can cause abrasions. I have done this but it takes lots of patience and usually best if the cat is started with bathing when they are young. Don't get the water too hot or too cold, lukewarm works fine and don't rub the coat backwards, work the soap in, and slower works better. If the cat seems stressed when you wet it down, I wouldn't even bother, they have oils the secrete to aid in cleansing. But if you must wash the cat and are afraid to do it yourself, your vet or a professional groomer can help.

The best way to bathe a cat is to do so in a bath tub. Fill the water up so that it's just under their belly, and then use a cup to pour water over the cat (but don't get their head wet). All four of my cats hate water, but they hardly fight at all when I do this.

Not all cats are afraid of water. If exposed to it at an early age, cats won't even mind baths.

Keep in mind, however, that cats are generally very clean animals that rarely need baths anyways.

Some people laugh, but sometimes it's just better to take the kitty to a professional (vet, groomer, etc) and let them handle the bathing duties. In my case, I have two cats in particular who are so very afraid of a bath that they have to be sedated just to get through it.

Yes, my one cat gets a bath even though he howls the whole time (but doesn't bite), the other one is too strong for me to hold and wash at the same time. Mine get it cause I'm allergic to them and had to have cats anyway, plus it makes them smell better. Get a good cat shampoo that rinses easily and watch the claws.

My older cat just likes haing her face washed with a damp rag, and then she dries herself. My new kitten doesn't mind if i wash her entire body with a damp rag.

If the animal is still young, then I would try to do it in stages to see what she is ready to let you do.

An older cat may be a little harder to do.

There is also a cat wash that you can find at walmart, or a pet store. It is a foam that you rub on the cat with a rag, and dries on its own. Great for the coat, and if the cat licks some of it, it is not hazardous to their health.

some cats like baths. not all cats are afraid of water. if you start bathing your cat when its young it will get used to being in the water and actually enjoy it when you bathe him/her.

Yes, you can bathe a cat. Just be careful. The cat has claws and teeth and may just decide to show you just how much he/she hates water.
