L.Ron Hubbard was a science fiction writer who wrote it on a bet with Robert Heinlein. Heinlein had written a sci-fi called Stranger in a Strange Land, which developed a sort of cult following, and Hubbard bet he could do it for real.

The only thing remotely close to science in Scientology, is the fact that L. Ron Hubbard was a science-fiction author before he started that cult. And if you think Christianity is screwed up, look up Scientology on Wikipedia.

Scientology is actually a religion that was founded by a science fiction author! People buy into this alien procession stuff even knowing that the leader of the religion is a science FICTION writer!

How crazy is that?

There is nothing scientific about it, that name is just a marketing gimmick.
