I am 17 years old. I have 3 wisdom teeth coming in. But my mouth isnt big enough for them. And they arent coming in right. So I have to get them cut out. I am not good with pain..well I am if the pain isnt in my mouth. My brother got his wisdom teeth cut out to like bout 3 years ago. He said it doesnt hurt, but its really cool cuz of all the drugs they give you. My step brother said the same. But honestly I think they are just sayin that so I dont get scared. But I wanna know the truth. Does it hurt or not? And how long does it hurt?

It doesn't hurt a bit. They give you some seriously good drugs during the procedure and for a week after.

I got mine out when I was 16, and I have always had a real problem with the dentist so I was kinda freaked out when I found out.

Now I for one was not about to let an oral surgeon do it, and my dentist actually went ahead and did it, with a good dose of Novocain. It wasn't fun, but I did it. Wasn't as awful as I imagined it though either. If I can do it just on the Novocain, then you can do it just fine being kinda knocked out like most people do now.

The procedure really isn't so bad, its the part afterward that is no fun. Get it done in the morning and be prepared to lay around the rest of the day. They will likely want you to go home and relax and keep gauze on your mouth and keep changing it until it stops bleeding. You probably will have stitches and your mouth will be rather sore back there for a maybe a week or so, so be careful with what you eat, especially the first night afterward.

It's scary, but really isn't as bad as it could be. My sister got it done some months ago and hers were impacted and not coming through so they had to go down and get them out, but she did just fine to. And so will you. : )

Wel-ll. Yes, it hurts. It hurts for a couple of days. The pain is very bearable if they give you codeine and you can sleep a lot.

I had all four of mine taken out at 21. I'm VERY GLAD I did it because the bone solidified around the other molars and I've still got all 28 left in my mouth. So please go ahead and do it. And don't freak out if they have to break one into pieces to get it out -- it is a surprise, but it makes a smaller cut and your gums will heal faster rather than making a very large incision.

This is part of growing up unless you have a large lower jaw! Relax (they know what they're doing) and get codeine to rest afterwards, ok>?

I just had all 4 of mine removed last week and I was knocked out when they did and did not feel a thing. When they woke me up I didn't really feel anything until about a couple of hours later, I took some of the pain killers and went to sleep. You will be in bed sleeping for about a day afterwards. Just keep up the pain medicine for a couple of days and you will be all good. First few days you will eat jello, pudding, soup and mashed potatoes.

It hurts at first, but you have medicine that will make the pain go away.

I felt no pain during the extraction because I had IV general anesthesia. Afterward I felt some discomfort until the pain pills kicked in.

Don't be afraid to take the pain pills. Keep them in your system. If you let the pain get started and out of control you could end up in a lot of pain until the pills kick back in. NOT FUN.

As long as you take the meds and follow the doctors orders you should do just fine. It's not totally pain free, but definatly manageable.

Hugs and well wishes

I had mine taken about about 4 months ago...Its not that bad i was eating solid foods in 3 days, and if you are in pain you get Vicidin which helps a lot! Even though it does hurt to get them out it probably will hurt more to keep them in. Getting dry sockets afterwords hurts, as long as you follow the dentist instructions and clean really good, and take a lot of drugs you will recover quickly. Good luck and you will do great

The actual procedure of getting them out doesn't hurt because they give you medication so you don't feel it. After you have them out, you will have discomfort for a couple of days. Your cheeks will be swollen a little. But it's not a big deal. You can handle it.

They medicate you and most likely will put you all the way out when you have it done. They'll give you vicodin afterwards if you start to feel any pain, and trust me that'll make you not feel annnnything. The more you worry about it the worse it's going to be. People arent lying to you, you're just lying to yourself cause you're afraid. Don't be! You'll be fine!
