my advice as a man is : give him a special look and half smile, then wait and see. don't step further.
that's the best way to get a man's attention.
if u talk to him, he will take it as granted. and that's not what u want, do u??

This is 2006, it is no longer the guys responsiblity to ask a woman out. If you like a guy, introduce yourself to him, and ask him if he'd be interested in going out. What's the worse that can happen? He says no...so ask the next guy out.
What's the best that can happen? He says yes, and you get to know him even better, to see if you really do like him.

If he doesn't know you exist, there isn't anyway to get him to ask you out. Go up to him and just say hello, my name is ......
And start talking. it's just not that hard to do.
