We recently had a house built. The Couch and chairs we bought are a cranberry color. We have 2 story windows that we had Gold curtains custome-made. We would like to paint our wall a gold color, but a few shades lighter than the curtains. Any opinions on Color-on-color scheme even though the shades are different? Thanks for any help.

You can paint most of your walls in the room with gold color, few shades lighter than the curtains like you said. Then, pick one of the walls (ideally one without door or windows on it) and paint it with a shade of dark/creamy brown - it will magically hormonize the cranberry and the gold.

For the walls you don't want to go so MATCHING like on the curtains. What I would do is do a rich creamy colour, or a beige -goldy look. As well for the curtains I got a tip, Add a ribbon around them the colour of your walls to make them blend but then mix just the same. Good LUCK!

I think it would be striking to have the warm gold tones with Cranberry as your accent color. Sounds like an invinting room. As long as your colors are in the same family you can use whatever shade you want, wherever you want.
