This is kind of embarrassing, but over the past few months I seem to have developed a problem with excess gas, I feel bloated all the time and I'm, ahem, passing a lot of wind down below!
Obviously, this is really embarrassing, especially when I'm in company. I don't drink any fizzy drinks and I try to stay away from things like beans, but nothing seems to be helping. I get really bad stomach pains which are relieved by passing wind, but obviously in certain situations you don't want to just let rip!
What's causing this problem and what can I do to stop it happening?

You may have hidden food allergies. To determine if this is the case there are 2 things you can do: 1, get allergy testing (pinpricks) from a doctor or clinic that specializes in it; or 2, do 'elimination diets' yourself and see if your symptoms go away. The most common hidden food allergies are lactose and gluten. Lactose is found in dairy products (and in many processed foods). Gluten is found in wheat and some other grains (breads, wheat, barley, rye, baked goods, soups, gravies... read the label and do some research). For an elimination diet, you just COMPLETELY give up the suspect item for 1 to 2 weeks and see if you can tell a difference in your symptoms.

Think if you have added a new food to your diet lately - like soy milk, vitamins, supplements etc., or anything that you weren't eating before. If you can identify something relatively new that you are consuming often, eliminate it and see if it helps. You may also be lactose intolerant - undigested lactose (and other sugars) feeds the bacteria responsible for the gas. Dietary fiber is good, but too much can also increase gas production. Good luck!

I had similar problems and eventually it was discovered that I have a wheat intolerance. Once I cut that out of my diet things improved a lot. The bloating and gas are also a symptom of IBS, you should talk to your doctor about your symptoms and he might prescribe you some medication to help with the pains and reduce the gas. Good luck!

It doesn't take fizzy drinks and beans...it could be anything. Someone real close to me (not me) gets bad gas from warm milk...but she needs to drink it to stay healthy...got milk?....so that is just the way it is.
Now the bloated, I can't help you...but you could try some of the Beanno or whatever, that might help?

You know.. in your case... and assuming you are tellilng everything as it is... it sounds like some over the counter stuff might be best for you to take... If I was in YOUR shoes... I would go to the pharmacist and ask him... without going to a doctor
I was going to suggest you stay away from beans/ asparagus/brocolli, cabbage, peaches, etc but it sounds as if you are NOT presently endulging in that type of foods...

Work out what sets you off, then avoid. Start plain - rice and chicken, then add in various foods and see what happens. You may be intolerant to different foods. Good luck. It's a pain in the **** (and stomach) But when you get it sorted it's great! x

I think when the digested food reaches your large colon, the bacteria in your large colon reacts to the digested food to produce gas. Try taking Beano before eating beans, vegetables, and fruits. Consult your doctor first before trying anything.

Yeah, you probably have IBS. Drink lots of water always and take Beano before your meals. Papaya enzymes can help you too. You can buy them in pill form at the vitamin store.

Sounds like a trip to the doctor is in order.
"You voice is different, but your breath smells the same."
It is a joke...Men are pigs so don't worry so much about a little gas, but go see your doctor.
