Agreed. To frighten people into believing a lie like hell. That way they can contribute to the collection plate and buy thier way into heaven.
Religion is big buisness based on lies. Man, I wish I could run a buisness like that but they'd toss me in jail so fast my head would spin!
Mainworry, wow, what a wonderful example of christian love and forgiveness you are. It really is a beautiful thing to see!

I don't know because I'm not Christian, but you shouldn't offend people by saying that it's nonsense. How do you know that it isn't true? That's the whole point. It's the belief that's as powerful as any words in any religious book. Words are only the foundation of religion, belief creates the rest. Even if it isn't true - and you can't prove it isn't - the idea of great people and a higher being watching over you can bring purpose into your life and make you a better person. You shouldn't be so quick to judge other people's religions.

It is important to remember that, as a ruler,
you have to tell your poor people what to believe and think, or else they might think for themselves. They could revolt! AH!
That is really dangerous to
your profits and you might have to work for yourself.
You can't have that. That's why god MADE poor people. To work for YOU.
So, just write a book that just happens to be the "word of god" and be sure to tell everyone how god only speaks to YOU.
God may be all powerful, but he can't speak to everyone, right?
So He (gotta have that HE, wouldn't want women to feel included)
just came to you, the SMARTEST, the KING. Make sure to put lots of fantastical re-tellings of old, common legends to reinforce the "lessons" in your propaganda. It's gotta have ZING! FLASH! Poor people love flash. Make sure to contradict yourself a whole lot so anyone unfortunate enough to believe your book can't figure out anything but allegiance to you and your church.
Then kill all the non-believers.
After a few hundred years the system will be self-perpetuating. The faithful will raise new soldiers, oops I mean children who will only know what is in your ancient divine writings.
The heirs to your throne will be thankful.
BTW I do belive in god. I just feel that a person's relationship w/ their god is personal, something you learn about through living. A book may help, but if you don't try lot's of things and different perspectives, how will you know what is true or not. Shouldn't the things you believe most strongly in ALSO be those that you prooved by repeated testing (Questioning)?

fisrt of all its not nonsense , if u dont know anything about it then u wont know. there is no excuse for ignorency . the things in the bible is all real. if u havent experinced it thenu wont knoe try going to a church or something no one can really explain it when u think its nonsence unless u really believe . then u will understand . i kno i didnt answer ur question but u need to do your reserach as in try it out for yourself befor u ask

The sense in the Bible is for us to have knowledge of God and his son Jesus and to come to understand what Gods purpose for us,to benefit from the things written,those who chose not to believe is their choice but those who chose to believe will have a great reward.

I believe the point of it is to give spiritual advice on how to live. It definitely isn't something to be taken literally or as direct facts.

The point is there IS a God. If you choose not to believe it that is ok. God does not force himself on ANYONE. Have a good life.

That it is actually aliens messing with our heads. I mean, have you seen X-files? Aliens abduct people with a bright light. Jesus Christ was "risen" from the dead...with a bright light. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not...

If you don't get it, no one will be able to explain it to you. My question is why do you care if you don't believe in the bible why are you so concerned?
