Oralgel will ease the pain for a minute or so, it won't cure the canker sore.

I tell my paitents that I can prescribe something that will make it go away in 2 weeks, or they can do nothing and it will take 14 days to go away.
Zinc supplements help some people.
The best over the counter is Zilactin. Expensive, you may have to ask for it. It stings/burns when you put it on at first, but it lasts for quite a while.

If this is the first time you got one, you will get them again, but each time will be a little longer between outbreaks and the sores will be a bit smaller (no they won't go away entirely).

Depends, sometimes in the dental area where the toothpaste is, or in the baby products. and orajel isn't a cure-all, it's mostly to numb the area until you can get to a dentist .... try listerine, it'll hurt like h*ll, but it should start to clear up in a couple of days of using it.

orajel does not heal canker sores. this is a topical anesthetic that only treats symptoms. it's the same way that cough suppressants don't cure your infection.
