He is said to have a direct line, so to speak, with God.
(I am not Catholic, but was raised as one.)

Catholics do not pray to the Pope. I have prayed for the Pope such as "Dear God, may the Pope find strength in you, etc" but I've never prayed to the Pope. Catholics pray to God. I listen to the Pope for the same reason anyone of any faith listens to priests, pastors, etc. He's a man doing the Lord's work, nothing more.

First of all, the pope is not a man of God. He's the leader of a religous government.
Second, catholics pray alot to Mary for intercessary prayers, this is the same as saying jesus is deaf and not capable of intercession.
Third, they pray to dead people (saints) who can't do anything for them.
Fourth, the catholic cult is comprised of paganism and christianity
Fifth, the pope is supposed to be a "Jesus" on earth, blasphemy.
So why bother worrying about a cult that will enable the anti-christ to run over the world with a new world wide religion?

I used to be a catholic, now I'm a learning christian (still getting there) but as a catholic, we were never told by nuns and priests to pray TO the Pope. The Pope, any Pope for that matter is just like a "head of state" to the catholics in the world. But he has no supernatural powers that gives you a direct line to God. But just as well, christians, catholics or muslims, hindu or taoists alike - I think it would be rude to be impolite to any spiritual leader for that matter. They deserve some form of respect.

I do not pray TO the Pope, I pray FOR him, that God may direct him in all things and keep him safe from harm, as I pray for all people. I'm positive I am not the only one out here doing that.

Your question implies that we worship the Pope. We do not.
Your question doesn't imply -- but rather flat out asserts -- that we pray to the Pope. I'm not the only Catholic, I'm sure, who finds that to be a ridiculous notion. No offense.
You also assert that Catholics believe the Pope is a God. Another ridiculous one. Again, no offense.
Nothing personal, my friend, but you really do seem to hold some glaringly WRONG ideas about Catholicism.
Where you got these ideas about Catholicism, I have no idea -- but wherever you did, I suggest you put them out of your head, and fast. They are flat-out wrong.

I've always wondered this myself. Some seem to put the pope on the same level as God, or think that he can actually heal people or something like that. I believe any preacher or pastor can have the same "direct line", which is simply a better understanding of the Bible and God's laws.

Catholics DO NOT worship the POPE.
He is the leader of the Catholic Church/Religion.
They might PRAY to him for guidance and for intercession in their prayer requests.
Of course he is not God. He is a MAN of God though.

Did Jesus appoint a leader of the Church? Paul says that we need to be on one sheet of music. This is how we do it. We believe in One God. We do not pray to the Pope, we talk to people who are already there who we believe God might listen to more than us.
This is what we believe: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary; suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting

Now I know you're not Catholic, so I'll let that one pass...
We DON'T pray TO the Pope... we pray WITH the Pope, we pray FOR the Pope... that's an enormous difference

I'm actually an atheist, but I did go to catcholic school, and as far as I can tell, they don't. I don't remember anyone ever praying to the pope, or any prayers with the pope's name in them or that even seemed to be directed even vaguely towards him. I believe you're simply incorrect.
