Bacteria evolves. The rule of survival of the fittest applies. When we treat diseases with antibiotics, the bacteria that is resistant to it survives. Handing out antibiotics like candy could result in a global health crisis. Oh wait, but if there is no such thing as evolution we do not really have to worry about it, right?

You are 100% correct. We are already starting to see the effects of our hypochondriac society. Antibacterial soaps, lotions, wipes, overuse of antibiotics for the common cold are creating supergerms. Each year, they see more and more strains of infections that are resistant to antibiotics. We are creating our own worst enemy.

You are mistaken if you are to present the resistance of bacteria to antibiotics as evidence for the theory of evo. Antibiotics are "killer molecules" that are produced by microorganisms to fight other microorganisms. The first antibiotic was penicillin, discovered by Alexander Fleming in 1928. Fleming realised that mould produced a molecule that killed the Staphylococcus bacterium, and this discovery marked a turning point in the world of medicine. Antibiotics derived from microorganisms were used against bacteria and the results were successful. Soon, something new was discovered. Bacteria build immunity to antibiotics over time. The mechanism works like this: A large proportion of the bacteria that are subjected to antibiotics die, but some others, which are not affected by that antibiotic, replicate rapidly and soon make up the whole population. Thus, the entire population becomes immune to antibiotics. Evolutionists try to present this as "the evolution of bacteria by adapting to conditions." The truth, however, is very different from this superficial interpretation. One of the scientists who has done the most detailed research into this subject is the Israeli biophysicist Lee Spetner, who is also known for his book Not by Chance published in 1997. Spetner maintains that the immunity of bacteria comes about by two different mechanisms, but neither of them constitutes evidence for the theory of evolution. These two mechanisms are:
1) The transfer of resistance genes already extant in bacteria.
2) The building of resistance as a result of losing genetic data because of mutation.

First understand that Christians DO believe in evolution as far as all dogs came from one kind of dog, all cats came fome one kind of cat, we just dont believe that a lizard will ever become a bird or ape become a human or anything like that. So of course we know that bacteria can change/evolve into something that can beat antibiotics but it wont ever become a flower or elephant. No medicines or medical treatment require man to have once been apes to work.

OK, little lesson in evolution. Species can evolve within its own species, not one species to another species. You are obviously just bitter and uneducated. Remember its called the Theory of Evolution. Look up what theory means. Next even if I evolved from an ape that doesn't mean God wasn't the creator behind the process. P.S. your statement is retarded you should take this question off.

Or why does Bush have to talk about the bird flu mutating instead of evolving. That always cracks me up!

If Mendel and Darwin had managed to meet, it would have been published as the law of evolution, not as a theory.
I just love all the ignorant know it alls these sorts of questions bring out.

I totally agree.

My Mom is a nurses aid and she see this happening all the time. There are only so many types of anti-biotics, and eventually if people continue popping them like candy we will be f*cked. Antibiotics actually weaken your immune system by acting in it's place. If your immune system never gets a chance to fight anything off then it will wither away.

I see your point. And I know that evelution is scientific fact. But, someone that wants to argue against you could simply say that they argee that bacteria evolve, but they don't think a new species can evolve from another species. So, even though I agree with evolution, I don't think your argument for it is sound.

Sure. Bacteria does not evolve, it adapts. Humans adapt. We have different skin colors to adapt to the environments we live in. So by your description, every skin color is another species. Learn the difference between evolution, and adaptation.

An excellent point.
I for one hope that anyone who denies the truth and facts about evolution, contracts the H5N1 virus. THEN they can tell me they still don't believe in evolution.

Heather,
Yes it's clear you have no clue. Go back to your book of mythology dear and leave the hard thinking to the rest of us. Ok? Buh-bye.

Absolutely, start popping those pills right away :-) You'll be going to heaven, so why worry.
And I have to defend the Christian Science Monitor, even though I'm an atheist. They have some very good articles. Read before you assume.
