Alice,
There is no absolute tried and true answer. Your metabolic rate will decide that for you. If you incorporate an exercise program with weight watchers you could be on your way to speeding up your weight loss. Be sure and consult your doctor before beginning ANY exercise program. I suggest any exercise you do try to do it early in the day---say maybe first thing in the morning. Your body is sort of like a furnace. It is ready to burn calories first thing. I know a lady who lost only 12 pounds in a year on Weight Watchers. But, she was not exercising with the same vigor as she was with the diet. So, don't just count calories burn them as well---if you are physically able to exercise. Once again check with your doctor about this before you begin. I wish you well and hope you lose that 70 lbs. Don't Give Up!!!!!!

It will take you a long time, they actually try for about a pound a week. I found a program that helped me lose 95 lbs in 8 months, it is called Shapeworks. I tried weight watchers and didnt care for it, but I love Shapeworks. Here is a good website to look at: www.loseweightnow.com/tfward

If you stick to the plan, and follow what they tell you, it would probably take about 6 months to a year. Just depends on how your body reacts to the changes. Thats a healthy weight loss. 2-3 pounds a week is healthy, any more than that, you're not losing fat, you're losing either water or muscle mass.

they will tell you 2 lbs a week - so approx 8 months. But sometimes at the beginning of weight loss if you have a lot it is conceivable to lose several pounds per week.

It depends on you. How committed you are to following all the guidelines on the program, and how your body works.
Some people have lost that much in 1 year.
