why do my chiuahauah lick so much???

my dog licks alot...especially her tush..is it normal???

I have a chihuahua also. Dogs lick themselves for many reasons. If he is licking his butt alot, take him to the vet or groomers and have them empty his anal glands out. It doesn't cost that much either. I get my chihuahua done every 5-6 weeks, it helps alot. My chi used to scoot his behind on the ground alot and after i started taking him to get his anal glands cleaned out he stopped scooting. If he is licking you alot its because he likes you. My chi is always licking us, sometimes its annoying but its there way of telling you they like you, or you have something on your hands that taste good.

Yes it's normal, Chihiuahuas lick alot. Mine does all the time. He is right now.

all dogs have glans near their tush that constantly fill with fluid till they hurt.....bigger dogs can push the fluid out by scooting across the floor (and we always thought they were wiping their a** lol) chiuahuahs cant due to the fact that they simply arent heavy enough to do so so most of the time you have to actually squeeze the liquid out yourself (and trust me, its the nastiest smell youve ever smelled). take your dog to the vet and i can almost assure you that thats what he/she will say.

My Chihuahuas do lick a lot too. If she is licking her tiush, she may be coming in heat, or have an infection. Is she swollen.

I believe this is common in little dogs. I have Pomerians and they will lick your hand until you tell them to stop...then they will still lick. For mine it is them showing affection.

There is a gland back there that may need to be cleaned . Take her to a groomer or the vet.

maybe go to the vet dogs do that to soothe pain sometimes under the skin
