A female dog will go into heat at around 6-8 months olf age and then every 6-8 months after that. The heat cycle lasts about 21 days with bleeding until about the 18th day...Depends on the dog as well..
Larger dogs can go in earlier smaller dogs can go in as late as a year the first time, but thats rare. The Besenji has a heat only once a year..

How old is she? If she is 6 months or older, she is probably going in heat. That is similar to a period. Sometimes they have their first heat a little earlier. If she is only 2 ir 3 months old, something is wrong and you need to take her to the vet. If she is in heat you need to sepereate her from any male dogs for about 3weeks.

As long as I know every single female dog in this world get a period. I don't think that the breed makes any difference.

All girl dogs go into heat, except those that are still too young, too old, those that are not spayed, or those with medical issues resulting in sterility or the like...

Dogs always go into heat, at least they should. i think it is about once every 6 months, for about 15 days.
