Get curling gel at your nearest CVS (like L.A. Looks, it's blue), that will keep it in good curls so it doesn't get frizzy. You can also straighten it, it's just hard. You need a really good straightener (I suggest Helen of Troy brand) and do it little by little.
Don't let it sit in a ponytail or bun too long because it will make your hair crease. Use plastic alligator clips instead. You can look for cool styles online. Almost all will work with the gelled curly hair or straight hair.
Also, if your hair does get frizzy, don't wet it wil water. It will make it get even frizzier when the water evaporates. Carry a little bit of gel with you, or you can even use hand lotion or suntain lotion. Put a little in and smooth out the friz.
For washing: Use a deep conditioner at least once a week and make sure you condition it every time you shower. Never use just shampoo or 2-in-1 shampoo & conditioner. Test out different brands and see what works for you. Personally, I like Thermasilk (even though you can't blow-dry curly hair... ever), but Pantene Pro-V and Dove are good too, see what works best for you. And comb the conditioner through while in the shower, and don't comb or brush it again after that. You can't brush or comb curly hair when it's dry!!
That's all I can think of for now. Good luck!

If you want to keep the curl, just tame it, try a body wave. Alot of times when someone has curly hair, it's not the same curl all over. A body wave would keep your curl yet make it uniform all over your head. If the curl is too tight, try going a rod or two larger than the curl you have. If it's not tight enough, go a little smaller. I don't like the curl you get from a "regular" wrapped perm. I do like the spiral perm. It looks like ringlets. A good leave-in conditioner such as Biolage can also help with the frizz. If you want it straight, I recommend a ceramic straightening iron. They are hard on your hair though. Having it chemically straightened though with take all the curl out essentially removing all the volume from your hair as well.

Moisturize the heck out of it. You can also buy scrunching curl sprays to further define the curl. If you need more shine, add some glosser to the hair shaft. The main problem with curly hair is unmanagable frizzies- Dove makes a great non-frizz cream that you can rub through before styling.

what do you want to do with it? Enhance the curl, Defrizz, straighten it? Is you hair thick or thin?
If you are just trying to control it then there are some new shampoos and conditioners on the market that will help, again depending on what you want to do with it. There is also a lot of other products on the market just be sure that they don't have a high content of alcohol because that is what dries out your hair and causes flyaways and frizz.

Love those curls! I know people will tell you to straighten it or chemically straighten your hair, but really with curly hair you can have it up, down, partially up and down...etc...
Buy a good mousse (dont use the Pantene, etc.. that you buy at Target, Walmart, etc...) buy a good mousse from a salon (they are bout $15 each, but worth it!) and it will work miracles!

Use a great conditioner and touch your hair as little as possible while it is drying....and even after it dries. Touching it causes frizz. You should also visit the message boards at www.naturallycurly.com. You can find lots of tips there!

You need a curl definer. I gets rid of the frizz and gives you really nice defined curls! Many product lines have one, so go visit your drugstore. If you buy at a salon, try the Curls Up from Bedhead.

never brush your hair unless it has conditioner in it. do weekly deep conditioning. and after shower, towel dry hair without "ruffing" up your hair. just pat dry. then put in mousse all over your hair and scrunch up your curls and let air dry or dry with a diffuser.
