I would like to get a dog but I live in an apartment and don't have a yard. I hate chiuauas (or however you spell it) and yipey little lap dogs. Do I have any other options?

Greyhounds are a great breed for apartments. Contrary to popular opinion, they are a very laid back, low-energy breed. They are nicknamed the '45mph couch potato' because they sleep 18-20 hours per day. They do need to be leash walked (as much as 4 times per day) but the walks don't need to be long. For more information on the breed, or for lists of local adoption groups in your area check out www.greyhoundpets.org.

Get a cat. Nothing but a lap dog could live in such a tiny little apartment and not go nuts.

i wouldnt own a dog in that small of a place inless you can walk it alot everyday, and if you cant, then it is not fair to the dog..
I would suggest a cat, or a hamster, or a lizard and fish .. something that doesnt require any space and that is low maitance unless you have the time to walk the dog often...

a small one...hehe. Try a shitzu (sp). You are pretty screwed if you don't want yipey lap dog. Try a mixed breed. We have a German Shepard mix, she looks like a minature German Shepard. She has a deep bark that makes her sound a lot bigger then she really is.

Get a papillon. I have one and she is the sweetest, most well-behaved little things. They don't shed or smell, and they're very easy to housetrain. They don't require a lot of exercise as they will adapt to your level of activity. They only get to be about 10-13 lbs. You can check out this sit for more info: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/papillon.htm

I'd suggest a Yorkshire Terrier or a Shih Tzu. MALES! My aunt and my cousin both had females, one of each, and in their experience, they are little bit....well, you know. I had a Yorkie and Shih Tzu Male, and they are a lot easier to train. They are more companion oriented, where-as the girls think they rule the place.
