In the old testament. The city was surrounded by a fence. people went outside the fence and had to be back before dark.

If they were late getting back, the gates were shut. They made a "hole" in the fence.

The fence was called the "needle". The "hole" was called the "eye".

People and camels could go through this hole. The only way a camel could get through it, was to get on it's knee's and crawl through the "eye of the needle".

The whole thing means what? The Rich man has got to get on his knees, to get too heaven. His money won't do it.

This does not take a nuclear research scientist to grasp this.
There is help, to understand, if one is actually looking for help.

There was a gate to Jerusalem that was called "The eye of the Needle" it was a narrow ans very short gate not much larger than a modern doorway. To get a camel through that gate it had to get down on it's knees and crawl in. Jesus was say that the rich man would have to be humble.. It's sad but 99.999999% of any people with money I have seen are far from humble..

it really is obtainable for a camel to bypass through the interest of a needle. the interest of the needle turned right into a slender passage through city walls that allowed a guy or a camel to bypass through, yet does no longer enable an armed horse or chariot. p.c.. animals would should be unloaded outside; guns would likewise should be left outside. The word "it really is way less complicated for a camel to bypass through the interest of the needle than a wealthy guy into the dominion of God" would were understood in Jesus' time. It only meant that even if bags you carried--wealth, products, guns--couldn't get you into heaven.

Gen.13:2;
Abraham was rich and he passed his riches onto Isaac. Lot was rich and Job was rich.
The prophets and the law were until John the Baptist, Luke 16:16; Jesus said,
Since then the kingdom is preached and ever man presseth to get inti it.
The coveteous Pharisees as rich religious leaders did not even teach as to the law of Moses and the prophets, much less what Jesus had to say, and upon the people like Lazarus, they had no mercy acting as if they have been judged before the judgement day and deserve to be poor and sick.
So the rich religious leaders spend their money for fancy garb to look good to the public. and Jesus really told them off about it.
It is this kind of rich of the religious leaders that Jesus was talking about.

I guess every religion may have its own even until today and not know what Jesus meant now, any more than they did then, as to the rich man.

Meaning you cannot buy your way into the Kingdom. People believe that with enough money you can buy anything. It's true that a lot ( not all ) well off people tend to forget where they came from and some people who have everything have no need to pray. On the other hand people who are working hard and struggling in life turn to God often for guidance and peace.

It is a mistranslation again. Camelio means tread or yarn in Greek at that time and certainly not camel. The text about the rich is clear, sorry that the hell was closed some year ago.

I don't believe it is a sin to be rich, but it is a sin to make an idol of money.

I don't know that it is a sin for a televangelist to be rich per se, but I do believe that if they preach to get rich rather than to serve God, they have their reward in this life (as did the rich man in the parable of the rich man and Lazarus).

The bible does warn those who want to be elders not to do it for money (the eldership position includes preaching and teaching). I leave them in God's hands and trust Him to judge their hearts.
