You can try a nice wine if you're talking secluded romantic sunset type thing, but normal beach days are just beer. You can't have glass anyway. Save the tropical cocktails for the deck/hot tub over the water or after you get back.

beer has a lot of carbs, and i get dehydrated from that, especially on a beach.
the best thing to do is bring several bottles of water and a bottle of tequila.
most beaches don't allow glass bottles, so you'll have to sneak it on. but the best part is you get to gulp water all day (so you don't get dehydrated at all) and every once in a while you have a shot of the tequila, keeping a nice crisp buzz going (but not a slow, sloshy drunk).
