Walt 554 is right, there's really know way to know, as most major airlines buy fuel 'contracts' fixing the price per pound of fuel at a certain price per certain quantity - it's called hedging, it's like gambling - they agree to pay this price for x amount of fuel into the foreseeable future. When the contract expires, they renegotiate.

Depends on what they "hedged" the fuel cost at. The airlines bought a guaranteed price way back when and they are paying that price until the time is up and they have to do it again.
