For example this woman complemented on how flat my stomach was and I unintentionally said,"Well, I haven't had babies yet". She then said,"Me neither" and she didn't have a flat stomach..I still don't know why I said that. I know that's not true by the way..

my god yes i have. To my best friend at the time...it was sad. Ok so I had just started babysitting for this family who had a HOT older son and I was telling my friend how I wouldn't take any of my friends who were better looking than me with me while I babysat but that she could go with me. Basically telling her she was ugly! It was bad. I didn't know how to cover that one up...

Then with my other friend who had a baby about a year ago I mentioned that she looked pregnant in a picture that was taken 6 months after her baby was born. I didn't mean to insult her but she was really sensitive about her weight and it hurt her feelings big time.

Look, I was going to lunch with my new team last week, and this guy was oogling a Dodge Charger. I said, "...piece of crap Dodge!" and he got all defensive with me. It was silent on the ride back - then he said to the lady driving the van - "hey, park next to that piece of crap Dodge over there!", and it was his car.

I felt about two inches tall. But, there is a prime example of trying to make small talk, stating an opinion, and tasting your foot.

Don't feel bad about it!

Worse. My co-worker thought she IM'd me one day saying "I hate XXX. She's such a b*tch." Unfortunately, she IM'd the person she was complaining about, not me. Much apologizing was in order after that.
