Slots, they are a no brainer...

If you are doing it just for fun and expect to lose money, stick with slots.

If you want to try something with a little better odds and want to take the time to learn the basics, I recommend blackjack.

Blackjack or other table games seem to scare new players because of the seemingly high stakes. I weaned my gf off the slots onto blackjack one day when we were in Vegas and she said she was afraid to bet $5 a hand (which is the minimum blackjack bet at most casinos) and thought she should stick with the 25 cent slots.

I pointed out to her that she was playing 4 coins or more each time she pulled the lever. She was actually spending a dollar, not a quarter each time. Then I pointed out to her that she was pulling the lever more than 5 times for every one hand of blackjack.

The result was that she was putting $5 at risk in a slot machine much quicker than I was putting the same amount at risk at blackjack - and my odds of winning were much better at blackjack.

But you have to take some time to learn the game. Most casinos have lessons but those are about 9 am or so in the morning and most people are sleeping in from the night before.

Good luck and have fun. You didn't say where you're going but the best in Vegas is the Rio. Don't miss it if that's where you're headed.

If you don't have time to study strategy on table games or video poker, I would recommend that you stay away from those games. While they are some of the better games for players, that is only true if you know the proper strategy. If you don't, you have a better chance playing the slot machines, as there is no skill required. Normally I would not recommend playing slots but it is better for you if you are going to just make mistakes on the table games. If you want to practice some table games before you go to a casino, try playing online. You can find a great guide for new online casino players at http://www.takevegashome.com/new_players.shtml

Good luck!

For a beginner, I would not play, but watch what is going on. Watch people play craps, blackjack, slots, roulette, etc. See what you might like, then go home and buy a book.

This way you'll save money, and then the NEXT time you go, you might be able to make the "better" bets rather than the "bad" bets.

For example, in Blackjack, there is a basic strategy to it. And you can make money in the short term, but in the long term, the casino makes money. How else will they pay for the electric bill, water bill, rent, casino workers, etc.

Have a good time, and good luck.

Definitely roulette its so simple and you can easily win big just by laying a few chips on the table. Be careful though its very very addictive and you can easily get sucked in and loose hundreds or even thousands

slots are the easiest to learn with no pressure. I would then go to roulette or blackjack. You need to do some reading before you attempt craps.

If it's true what they say about biginner's luck then i'd play them all. Start slow and pace yourself. Only gamble what you can afford to lose. Keep an open mind and remember, you are there to have fun!.
