Use the lavasoft ad-aware first. Avoid Panda stuff cos they keep sending you junk emails. Follow up with antispyware such as Spybot. These are both free. Also update your Antivirus to the latest version. Some antivirus packages such as Trend PCcillin include anti-adware and anti-spyware. Once you have time you may want to spend some money, but Spybot and Ad-aware are very good. Also check your home page is on the correct website.

Ironically, the Yahoo toolbar Anti-Spyware app does a pretty good job. Ad-Aware is also good. For combination virus scan and adware removal, go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ . It scans your computer online and is completely free. You do, I believe, need Java to run it, though I'm not sure...never tried it without. Between all of the above, there shouldn't be a speck of adware left.

Download the program Ad Aware and run it. Another good program is SpyBot&Destroy. Both are freeware
You should check your system with "Hijackthis". It is Freeware too and you can use online automatic checks who will read your logfile and tell you what problems you might have.
A good Antivirusprogram is www.avast.com
It is Freeware, updates automaticly (you need to register, but that is all. no spyware, no annoying mails) and finds really everything. I checked it already. And it is much better as the Memoryblocker "Norton Antivirus".
Nice greetings

Using this combination of free programs with current updates has never failed me:
SpyBot Search & Destroy
AdAware
Ewido
These should be sufficient. Webroot's Spy Sweeper is another great one, but only available for free on a 30-day trial basis. Run these three programs and you should be taken care of.
