2.grab him from the collar assure that with that grip he can't run away

That's something that's really hard to control considering he's still a puppy. One thing that works for training is putting some small pebbles in a can and shaking it when the puppy does something wrong. This would probably work if when your daughter is running and the puppy is nipping at her ankles, you shook the can for a few seconds and removed the puppy and brought him a little farther away from her. The reason the can works is because dogs ears are extremely sensitive and so of course, they don't like the noise.
Good Luck!

1. They should stop running immediately - he is being driven by the chase so that should help calm him down. They should be directed to walk when the puppy is around, not run.
2. Tie a toy on a line such as a long leash about 8-10 feet. Give it to your daughers (depending upon how old they are, at least five years) and they can make the toy go around them for the puppy to chase, instead of their ankles.

You don't hit your dog. It gives them attention. Any attention (even hitting) lets them know they can get your attention for doing bad things. You are not supposed to let your dogs play "chase", it is a bad habit and people can get hurt (nipping, tackling, tripping, scratched, etc.). If you want to give your dog exercise then take it for a walk. If your daughter absolutely has to run through the garden, then put your dog in it's crate, tie it up, put it inside. To prevent nipping you can put listerine on the area the dog is nipping at, and it will serve as a taste deterrent. But the best thing to do is not play chase with a dog.

If the puppy is under 4-5 months old, it's playing and you won't stop it until she grows out of it. Take it to a friend's house that has an older dog, and watch it do the same thing with it.

Getting the puppy a toy is not going to stop the problem. Get a newspaper and pop the puppy on the nose with the newspaper. This will no hurt the puppy, but will tell it that it is doing something wrong evertime it gets "popped,"

he is still a puppy and it is a puppy thing, but it could also become a problem.
have you asserted your (and your daughter's) dominance over the puppy? dogs are pack animals and will respond to another "animal" who dominates it. try laying the puppy on it's back and standing over it. this will force into a position of submission and enforce your role as the dominant animal. have your daughter and any other member of your household do this as well. hope this helps

He is a puppy. He wants to play. Get him some chew toys. But I am sure he would rather play with the girls. It's the dogs way of saying "Play With ME"!!

That's their version of a game... It's part of the chase. Offer a toy for the puppy to chew on then.
