It will probably cost over a hundred dollars just to get an estimate. Toss it and get a new television.

Was`nt going to answer this one but after reading the crap from all the other replies I think you deserve a sensible answer , Firstly it may just be resister in the power supply start circuit cost few cents , on the other hand could be any number of things, have the set checked by a competent Tv tech , may cost you small fee for estimate , better than trashing it as suggested by most of the other idiots who only reply to get two points !!

It would probably not be very cost effective to repair the TV. Not only would it probably cost more to fix the TV than it's worth, the TV's relevant life is only 3 more years. The FCC intends to stop all Analog TV signals from being broadcast in 2009 so you will need to buy a TV with a digital tuner very soon anyway.

Least expensive is about $75 for a blown fuse, most expensive is about 200-500 for tubes if they are still available, but if it went dead it is probably a fuse inside the set or a blown capacitor. $20 is a minimum charge for an estimate.

It would cost more to repair the TV than it would to buy them a new one.
The little old man with the corner shop on the square just isn't there any more. Which means, you can't find a repair person for love nor money.

More than the damn thing's worth. You got good service out of it. Sell it to a repairman for parts and buy another one.

Is it plugged into the electrical socket. If so, trash it.
