First of all, don't take advice from non or anti Mormon's. There are a lot of false things about us out there...Of course we believe Christ is our Lord, we also believe in Heavenly Father, two different persons. Westernndguy: I live in Utah, and yes a high percentage of people are Mormons. No one is perfect, not everyone has a testimony either. It is sad when anyone takes their own life no matter what their religion, age, sex, whatever.
There are 3 parts to Sunday worship for Mormon's. Sacrament meeting (usually an hour) where we take the sacrament, renewing our baptismal covenants which you do not need to take because you have not been baptised (i'm assuming in the LDS church), there will be a song, an opening prayer, any ward business, and usually a few people from the ward who will give talks on a certain subject, closing song, prayer. Then there is Sunday School, a class teaching about the gospel, and for 18 or older women, Relief Society, which is more teaching of the gospel. Both classes are about 30-35 minutes, all of church lasts about 3 hours. Listen to the teachings. There is nothing weird or secret or scary. If you are going on the first Sunday of the month, the sacrament meeting will be "Fast and Testimony" meeting, this means instead of having preselected speakers, any member of the congregation can get up and share their testimony. It is wonderful and the true gospel of Christ. Anymore questions you can contact me...I would love to answer any.
Bryton1001: Just so you know, we do believe in latter-day revelation, that is why we have ordinances that aren't specifically mentioned in the bible, such as baptism for the dead and other things. Article of Faith 9: We believe all that God has revealed, all that he does now reveal, and we believe he will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
Joseph Smith was a prophet of the Lord, he saw and talked personally to God the Father and Jesus Christ. I know it in my heart. He was a courageous and righteous man.

Hey, I think it's really cool that you are going with your boyfriend to church next week. I hope you have a great experience. I think you'll find that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has a lot in common with other churches. I think your boyfriend is probably the best person to give you specific advice, since he probably knows what you might be worried about. I really enjoy going to church every week because that's a place where I consistently feel peace and comfort; those are feelings that come from the Holy Ghost, the Spirit of God. I know you can feel them too! If you want to see our church's website, see www.mormon.org. There's some advice there for people who haven't attended our services before.

I am LDS/Mormon.
This is what you can expect:
First, you will most likely be greeted by a lot of people. We are pretty friendly.
There are three meetings every Sunday. Our first meeting is the sacrament meeting. This means that first they will bless and pass the sacrament to the congregation. Since it is the first Sunday there is no specific speaker. Members are welcome to come forward to share their testimonies or uplifting spiritual experiences with the congregation. The next meeting is Sunday School. We are studying the Old Testament this year. The final meeting is a split meeting where men and women go to separate meetings to have a lesson directed more towards the needs of each group.
There is no "dress code." However, most of the males will be wearing slacks, white shirts and ties. Most of the women will be wearing modest dresses or a skirt and blouse. You may feel uncomfortable if you wear a really short skirt or spaghetti straps.
There is nothing strange about our services, despite what all of these people are saying. They have obviously never attended our services.
I hope that this helps out a bit and that you enjoy your experience. If you have any other questions, contact me. I would be more than happy to address your concerns.
Good luck.

OK, it's not a cult. I know lots of Mormons. You probably already know that they don't drink coffee, so don't ask if they want to drop by Starbucks on the way to church. If he goes to a temple, know that you won't be allowed in. Only Mormons get to go inside the temple. But since he's invited you, obviously there will be some parts of service you're allowed to participate--or maybe he doesn't go to temple, since not everywhere has one. I haven't been to a Mormon service, but I know that they don't have a pastor or clergyman--they all take turns speaking and being the leaders. They also have pretty specific expectations of their "young women." Oh, they also don't like being called Mormons anymore. They're LDS.

Mormons say that Satan is Jesus' brother, and that Jesus is a literal creation, not God Himself. The Bible and the Book of Mormon are completely opposite.
They also teach that God created sin, and that marital relationship is sin. I have read this myself, in 2 Nephi 2:20-22. Ask your boyfriend if you can read those verses from a Book of Mormon, it is in that chapter.
Jospeh Smith was a 33rd degree freemason, and used the novel of a friend to make the religion of Mormonism. His polygamist lifestyle caused his wife to leave him, and denounce his beliefs (historical fact), as he married numerous wives.
He was murdered in prison with his brother, by freemasons, because he stole their religious beliefs and made a new one. If you go to the Salt Lake City Mormon Temple, you will find it filled with symbols from freemasonry, because that is where it comes from. Many of their rituals are also tied with freemasonry.

UH, ok. They are secretive, and they have odd rituals. They do not believe that Jesus is God, and they believe that they can pray for their dead ancestors who can then be transferred from hell to heaven. Upon marriage, they wear holy undergarments all the time. It's supposedly to remind them of the committment to their spouse. Ever heard of a ring? If you go to a protestant or catholic church now, beware of this strange group. They'll sound mainstream, but are not. Utah, home of the Mormons, has the highest male teenage suicide rate in the country. Coincidence? I think not.

If you have question about the LDS, always openly ask, do not be afraid. LDS is willing to answer all questions. Ask them directly is always the best.
That is how you can find out if LDS belief is for you or not,
further more, by asking question, there is no assumption or misunderstanding, and you could also take the time to understand how faithful your boyfriend to his religion.
In my opinion, a man who "truelly" loves God, can't be all that bad.
One more advice, ask your self what do you want to know about the religion, write it down and ask that question when you are there.

YES A WARNING, Mormonism is much like a cult, Joseph Smith was a fraud that created it, and changed the Bible, they believe in many wrong things, if you compare the book of mormon to the Bible you will see all the changes, they believed a person could be baptized after they were dead, and lots of other things.
Read 1 John and 2 John in the episcal letters, John warns of false prophets,
IF ANYONE COMES TO YOU AND DOES NOT BRING THIS TEACHING DO NOT RECEIVE HIM INTO YOUR HOUSE AND DO NOT GIVE HIM A GREETING,
FOR THE ONE WHO GIVES HIM A GREETING PARTICIAPATES IN HIS EVIL DEEDS
DO NOT RECEIVE HIM INTO YOU HOUSE
DO NOT GIVE HIM HOSPITALITY HE WHO GIVES HIM A GREETING ACTUALLY FELLOWSHIPS IN THE WORK OF THE ANTI-CHRIST!!!!!!
THIS IS TALKING ABOUT NOT TEACHING THE BIBLE AND VEERING OFF, BELIEVING IN FALSE PROPHETS, SUCH AS JOSEPH SMITH, WHO WAS PROOVE A FRAUD BECAUSE MANY OF HIS PROPHESIES WERE PROOVED WRONG.
