Voted best chip shop
Last year’s winners, Nigel and Linda Hodgson of Hodgson’s Chippy in Lancaster have experienced a 30 per cent boost in sales in the six weeks after winning the UK title and have been inundated with customers from across the UK. Nigel said: “Entering the Competition is good business for many different reasons but mainly because it guarantees an increase in trade. We have already seen a 30 per cent rise in sales. People are coming from all over the UK to visit the shop. I served somebody recently who drove 150 miles for our fish and chips!”

The Magpie cafe in Whitby is often voted one of the best in the country. Apparently the queues are often way out the door. Testifies to it's popularity. My favourite chippies are the Zenith Fish Bar in Andover, Hants, and Maylia's chippy in Morpeth, Northumberland.

there's one in Aldeburgh in Suffolk I have had to queue for and hour outside to get cod and chips, but oh boy is it worth it.. there's another along the road which is the second choice for most of suffolk it would seem... maybe it';s a bit like the film Soylent Green and they are recycling the dead or something and we are actually eating them which why it tatses so good...but don't care though, still good to eat
