It's funny -- the only people who think that religion causes so much trouble are the people who don't practice one!

They also conveniently ignore all the good that religion does -- all the charitable acts, all the positive influence it has on millions of lives, and so on.

Religion causes so much trouble because the is no real way to prove that there is a god or gods. Unlike science there is no way to back it up with hard evidence. Even though there have been miracles through out history. Also, religion causes problems because faith is different for everyone. Everyone has a different idea of god. Since no one is able to see god there is no way to tell what he is like. Everyone has there own opinions and when this happens usually there is debate. Also, religions have different sets of rules that people are supposed to follow. For example, the Catholic Church does not allow females to be priest while some protestants churches allow females to be ministers. This is because there rules are different .

Religion only causes trouble for those who don't understand it. I used to fall into that category. I now have a much better understanding of religion and faith and the differences between them. Now religion causes no trouble for me! As a matter of fact, my faith (what I once thought of as religion) helps bring peace!

I think it's because when people put so much energy, self-worth, emotion and passion into something as people do with religion, and then are told that thet are wrong by someone who believes just as firmly in their religion, sparks are bound to fly. It's not the lip-service religious people that cause the problems, it is usually the truly devout.

Because "religion" is MAN'S view of God. Therefore, each group or clique that believes a certain way is naturally going to believe that everyone else is wrong, especially if they grasp the concept of the Scripture in John that says," ONE Lord, ONE faith, ONE baptism, ONE God and Father of all who is above all, through all, and in you all!" They're going to be readily accountable for all that THEY'RE WILLING to give up or be convicted over in the Word, instead of submitting entirely to God's will.
