When faced with a seemingly overwhelming number of posts which you may consider anti-religious, do you "turn the other cheek" or go for the "eye for an eye" method of responding? Why?

Keep him guessing... =)

Just kidding. If evil ones who hurt others are treated with generosity, some may react well, but others who are bullies will take that as a license to abuse. So, use wisdom. My personal rule is give someone three chances. AFTER THAT go after them, so they remember never ever to repeat.

Just had a visual that cracked me up. How about turning their other cheek so you can go for their other eye. I guess I am still a little sick. Better work on it some more. Years of being in my angry hell has taken even more years to ask Him to remove it. Patient perseverance is the key to accepting the inevitable. Peace and Love

Turn the other cheek. An eye for an eye leaves all the world blind. Christians should be loving and accepting and not judge others.

Actually, it says if someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn the toher also.

In those times the left hand was unclean, so you would be slapped with the person's right hand. if they struck you on the right cheek, it would be a back handed slap, used for those lower than yourself.

By turning the left cheek, they have only three options - walk away and leave you be, slap you with their unclean hand which they would never do, or slap you with an open hand, which you only did to people who were your equal. By turning the other cheek you force them to acknowledge you as an equal.

I turn the other cheek. Bad people always get their eye poked out in other ways. Even if you don't believe in god bad people still get screwed over in the end by somebody else who does believe in revenge. It is best not to let yourself be overwhelmed by anger...as master yoda says, "Anger leads to the dark side"

What does poking out someone's eye do? It satisfies your need for revenge, but it is only a temporary satifaction. God is the ultimate Judge. We were created to worship God and to bring HIm glory. Our lives should point others to God and the saving power of His Son, Jesus. "You attract more flies with honey." You will draw more people to God by cheek turning than eue-poking.

I do what the situation warrents. If it's a small, insignificant matter, I turn the other cheek. If it's something really, really big, I walk up behind whoever did it and stab them in the heart.

mmmmmm...nothing wrong with helping someone with some wisdom...since they're not operating in that gift. But really Psalms 141:3,

Set a guard over my mouth, O LORD;
keep watch over the door of my lips.

I always pray this. It helps me to know when to speak and when to shut it!
