I'm a long time Nikon guy but I would go with the Canon. It's lighter, and gives you a better file size. However, it costs a little bit more. Canon has replaced Nikon as the camera of choice among many professionals. One comment said that older lenses work on this body....be careful. That may not be true in all cases. What ever you do, one piece of extra advice. Spend money for a good lens. Generally the glass that comes with the camera "kit" is pretty marginal. If you spend money for quality glass you can trade the camera body in for a newer model in the future when your skills develop. I have heard a lot of positive comments about the D350.

Compare them at www.dpreview.com

I would first check this:

Buying a camera is a little personal than buying, say, a TV. You have to handle this unit, so if you read a reviewer saying the camera is heavy, it might be heavy for that user but just perfect for you. After reading the comparison link, try to see if you can actually check out the camera in-person. DPReview is a good site for comparisons and reviews, so I suggest you read their in-depth on both these cameras.

I'm a Canon guy, so the choice is easy for me. A Nikon guy will say the same thing.

If the photographer is any good, there is no difference. Just price variations.

THe photographer is what makes the picture, not the camera.

Once you get into pro DSLRs it's a matter of personal opinion what is better and what isn't.

It's not the camera...it's the person using it. It's better if a person knows how to use different cameras. In that way, he or she can make a judgement on which camera is better. Try using both then make your choice.
