You would first need to determine how many calories you burn on average, then exceed that average by 3500 calories.

its supposed to be 3500 calories will make you gain a pound, and it would make you lose a pound if ate 3500 or burned 3500 less. Of course the less you excercise, and the more you eat, the faster you can gain the pound.
